The Little Box of Appreciation.

02.28.2012 – Two weeks ago I received news about another box arriving from San Francisco. I was informed by my good friend that he had sent it through his in-laws and as expected it came for to pick it up on February 15th.

Now is that odd to have a post-Valentine present? Of course it was expected that it would be arriving any time soon but I didn’t expect to get it well after Valentines Day. Though this is like just below one-third of the one I got in December it has lots of love.

Actually this is the third time to receive a package and I think I owe more than appreciation in return

Extremely Loud & Purely Emotional.

02.27.2012 – Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close is one of the Academy Awards films having nominated for Best Picture and Best Supporting Actor with Max von Sydow. Anyone who caught up with the Oscar’s this morning was something good to watch out the regular local material that’s been declining lately.

The movie had its special promotional screening last Wednesday at SM Megamall courtesy of Warner Bros. Pictures and The Best Music on the Planet 99.5RT. The film had its first limited screening on January 20, 2012 in North America with fairly mixed reviews but definitely it the emotional up.

The Morning Rush: Top 10 Book Launch

02.26.2012 – Chico and Delamar’s Top 10 book is now a best seller and that is something of a record. Their fifth and last book signing was accepted with great reception at the National Bookstore in Mall of Asia.

The book signing is not as phenomenal as the first one five weeks ago but there are already talks about the second volume. What was once a segment of their radio shows it’s now the stuff you can read just to forget the everyday drama.

The tandem has given them 15 years making them the longest running Philippine radio show to beat.

Sleepless in Seattle without The Sonics!

02.25.2012 – Do you remember The Seattle Super Sonics? Any NBA fan would remember because of Gary Payton and Shawn Kemp in the 1990s.

They were a remarkable team during the height of the team’s popularity but also over shadowed by the greatness of Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls when they reached the NBA Finals in 1996.

Who would have thought about that team at this time? Ever since the franchise was bought by businessman Clay Bennett in 2006 and moved it to the city Oklahoma there was a huge apathy for the city of Seattle.

Last Wednesday on The Disenchanted Kingdom!

02.24.2012 – It’s been a while but the trip was all worth the time to just hang out. The King aka DJ Logan was not around Wednesday night but his colleagues Cleo Caliente and Marf were on-board for another 99.5RT’s riot show on Disenchanted Kingdom.

Unfortunately they didn’t notice the time to do a segment for ODK, but Marf had played all the songs I requested like the latest song by Foster The People or Up Dharma Down’s “Taya”. The coziest place in the booth was the corner part underneath the air condition near the small booth outside that is occupied by Clarissa who delivers the news at fifty five.

Anticipating Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close!

02.23.2012 – Finally! Another movie to watch and my Academy Award bet is “Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close” which stars Tom Hanks, Sandra Bullock and featuring Thomas Horn as the young Oskar Schell. There’s another talented individual in this film which is Max von Sydow a nominee for the Academy Award for a supporting role.

I have seen the movie trailer many times and had read the press materials that made me curious about this film. So far the Academy Award caliber films I’ve seen so far are J. Edgar and The Descendants which made me look forward to Extremely Loud. There’s something about this film that I can’t ignore among the previous films I’ve seen.

Max Von Sydow an Academy Award Nominee in Extremely Loud!

02.22.2012 – Max von Sydow is a French-Swedish actor and he gives chills to my spin when I first saw him appear in the trailer of the upcoming film of Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close. I have not heard about him generally but he looms big in other critically acclaimed films that get featured in film festivals.

I'm a regular screen buff but not that hardcore to see “Hanna and Her Sister” or “Lassefar in Pelle the Conqueror” in which he received his first Academy Award nomination. In 2012, he gets a nomination for the second time in a supporting role for Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close.

Upton Up The Ante and Showed Her Bikinis!

02.16.2012 – Between the dead and the sublime everything is just fine. I mean yeah after seeing a press media screening that took a lot out of me…

Actually early in the day there was an album launch, a press con for an upcoming concert and another album launch.

I could be feeling the exhaustion as I lugged off my bag and started checking my email and while I’m at it I was checking how Jeremy Lin made a believer out of me. Of course before that Kate Upton had upped the ante and showed her panties.

George Clooney on Acting and Character on The Descendants!

02.10.2012 – George Clooney burst into our collective minds as the guy on ER and then left for the big ticket in the movies which paired him to other well known talents in Hollywood. Starring in unique roles that defined his craft as one of the best leading man right now. This time around Clooney is starring in a comedy-drama that you will find a different take from his previous roles.

Last seen in The American this time around the much recognized for his global humanitarian efforts as he is for his accomplishments in the entertainment industry, George Clooney delves into untapped psyche as he takes on parenting in “The Descendants” with naturally gifted young actresses Shailene Woodley and Amara Miller.

The Phantom Menace in the Star Wars Press Media Gala Premier!

02.09.2012 – The star studded affair in the Philippine press screening of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace in 3D was phenomenal. The weekend ends with a bang in seeing this film after 13 years. I recall buying movie tickets for the midnight screening with friends.

Back then I was so excited about the movie that most hardcore fans would turn this film down. I’m a casual Star Wars fan who only got to see the original trilogy for some in their 30s in video cassette formats of Betamax and VHS players. Episode 1: The Phantom Menace was the fourth film directed by George Lucas which definitely made this billion dollar franchise known globally.

Shailene Woodley and Amara Miller talks about The Descendants!

02.08.2012 – The Descendants is an American comedy-drama film which stars George Clooney but this interview feature sent to us by 20th Century Fox Philippines is more on Shailene Woodley and Amara Miller. They both play Clooney’s daughter in this interesting movie.

The last time I saw Clooney was last year in The American as a cold blooded assassin and that was originally first seen in the US in 2010. This time we see him as single father trying to bond with his daughters and the rest of the press material will tell you more about it…

PRESS RELEASE: Sandra Bullock in "Extemely Loud!"

02.06.2012 – Two years after winning an Academy Award for “The Blind Side,” Sandra Bullock takes the role of grief-stricken mother whose apparent absence in her son's life is not quite what it seems, in Warner Bros.' heartwrenching drama, “Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close.”

Nominated for Best Picture at this year's Academy Awards, the film is a story that unfolds from inside the young mind of Oskar Schell (Thomas Horn), an inventive eleven year-old New Yorker whose discovery of a key in his deceased father’s belongings sets him off on an urgent search across the city for the lock it will open.

Living in a Wrestling Fan's Dream.

02.05.2012 – There a lot of passionate individuals out there which share their talents or interest in the field that define them. These days the social media spectrum elevates these individuals beyond television and radio. For some it has become their way of letting themselves known for what they love doing regardless the attention that they are getting now.

There was one individual who I find interesting and rarely will you see being into wrestling that is mostly dominated by the male audience. I’m talking about Hannei Dimaano a big wrestling fan and who is inspired to catch Ted Dibiase on the ropes on WWE.
