Down South Travels | Aliwagwag Falls Ecopark

The Aliwagwag Falls is a protected landscape that preserves a major drainage catchment in the Southern Philippine Islands of the Davao Region, and it is known as the Highest Waterfalls in the country. It contains the headwaters of the Cateel River in the southern Diuata Mountain range. It provides the water source and irrigation for surrounding rice fields and communities in Davao de Oro and Davao Oriental provinces, which was declared a National Park in July 2018. It was named after the remote rural village in the municipality of Cateel, located in the Eastern Mindanao Biodiversity Corridor, which contains one of the largest remaining blocks of tropical lowland rainforest in the Philippines.

Before we head to the province, while in Davao City, we visited one of their branches for paint supplies, as there are no major hardware stores that provide those types of needs, and the long travel to Davao Oriental is not a breeze.

Down South Travels | Late Night Flight

They say it is better to be early than late. Of course, anywhere in the world whenever you travel by plane most of the time it never was on time. It’s been four years since the last trip was even considered holiday-related. Most of it is entirely work-related and there is not enough time to do some sightseeing in the places I visited. The four-year gap resulted from the pandemic years of travel restrictions, and the last road trip I ever had was in the early months of 2020, a month before the world shut its doors and people were stuck indoors. You know, you get the gist of how things had happened, and fast forward to less than 24 hours ago I went Down South, Again.

02.17.2020 – Last month prior to this Saturday I was invited to go on a road trip with good friends since I haven’t been out of densely populated city of Metro Manila. The last time I really went on a long drive was in April 2018 with fellow TAFE colleagues from the automotive class, which was quite an experience bonding with them. This time around I wasn’t even sure if I could make it due to the random schedule that I have that an on job call might happen. The commitment was not even 100% though I kept it in the back of my head if I got nothing to do on a weekend, since my brother and his family has left last Wednesday it would be best to spend time out of town without any concrete plans of even covering the event.

Return to Korea | Busan Before Departure

01.18.2019 – A few days ago no one noticed or was informed the trip to South Korea was relatively unknown. Preferably low key for the whole duration of the trip because it is also a business travel not a luxury adventure to explore the place. It is give I’ve been to South Korea almost eight years ago. This one was fairly a short trip by a week nothing much to do cooped up just inside the compound where work is conducted. There was not enough time to go places and it was mostly staying indoors or “in-ship” if you call that a word. But the last day before the flight was enough time at the airport.

04.24.2018 – The day after staying at Skytrek and Willow Springs Station it was fairly like how you try to get u in the morning. I’ve been up since 6 AM. It was cold hardly my young ward I roomed at his tent had difficulty trying to get some sleep. There were some good stories last night and the hilarious ones at my expense. First time campers for these group was a bit of fun not that I didn’t enjoy it, but it was the experience in-between the narrative that surely was a pleasant look at the individuals how getting to know them was an experience in this entire trip. You can surely find it interesting how things unfold when we went to the next destination of this road trip.

04.23.2018 – Camping is South Australia’s past time that also includes boating and fishing for the reason there’s even a store named after these three activities (namely BCF), which has been the reason why Aussies continue to cultivated this as a hobby. But if you have immigrants particularly Asians taking the deep dive into camping expect hilarious scenes aching to American reality shows with that kind of flavour, This gives you a good story and idea to share and new adventures told in a quite entertaining perspective by someone who is the only English speaking individual namely me.

03.20.2017 – Town Fiestas are a common sight in the Philippines, but rarely now a scene if you live in the city mostly part of Metro Manila. It is considered one of the highlights of every town that celebrate its founding anniversary. Pura is one of the small towns in Tarlac that recently concluded its town fiesta that featured coloful and creative floats, which also include a parade of beauty contestants that where seen the night before that had so much pageantry.

12.29.2014 – The Christmas spirit is at Blair Athol is one of the suburbs in Adelaide South Australia. It’s located in City of Port Adelaide Enfield and it’s not really a place of touring but more of residence area as close friends is located there. Visiting one who resides at Blair Athol was quite a trip with a Greek theme designed for the house and how the holidays are celebrated. 01.28.2013 – Rundle Mall is Australia’s first pedestrian street mall, which opened some time in 1976. It’s like The Bonifacio High Street in the Philippines, but what makes Rundle Mall unique is it originated and named after Rundle Street. The area is the most expensive real estate in downtown Adelaide, which had evolved to be a high end commercial district. It is home to South Australia’s flagship store and just like Bonifacio High Street it has its own notable landmarks that are worth checking out.

12.27.2013 – After a trip to the little town of Hahndorf where lunch was served at The Haus, and spent looking around the German Village Shop filled with wooden toys and collectibles. The quick tour around the area was a breeze up to the parking lot. The weather was right to drive to Mt. Lofty the highest point in the southern Mount Lofty Ranges in Adelaide. The place gives you the view of South Australia, and with a rich history that became a popular tourist spot. You have to make the visit the experience the stunning view that is quite mesmerizing in the day.

12.27.2013 – The road trip to Hahndorf in South Australia was a smooth ride via the South Eastern Freeway. It was 15 to 30 minute drive from the city of Marion, which was not bad when you say you’ll get there in time with minimal traffic next to none. How often do you see traffic in Adelaide? The only thing that makes everyone stop is either there was a road mishap or construction happening at that moment. But today there wasn't any hassle save that for some who lacked sleep last night. Hahndorf is a tourist spot you should not miss trying to make a visit and it’s a historical place.

12.26.2013 – In Australia almost everything is “self-service.” You pay at the counter or clean up after you eat at a nearby fast food restaurant it is self-service. It shows independence and not over exaggerating with too many hands to do your chores. When you think of car wash you go to the garage (service station term for gas station in Australia) and there are people already to do the job. But at St. Mary’s BP on the Run you do it yourself for less than $10.00 AU dollars. Just put $1.00 AU dollar in the machine and the blaster shoots high pressured water with foam to rinse the dirt away.

12.26.2013 – Harbour Town is the shopping district in Adelaide, South Australia which mostly consists of signature brands. Boxing Day is their holiday event where most people are now spending their time at this place. After an early lunch at IKEA and some look around driving off to Harbour Town was the next destination to check out the excessive sale and huge discounts. It might not be as big place unlike in Melbourne for your shopping needs, but it is a place you should you buy something for a discounted prices…

12.26.2013 – IKEA is famous for furniture and other home decors and they have branches all over the world. Unfortunately they don’t have one in the Philippines as I’ve heard there’s one in Singapore but never got the chance to see it for myself being there in that country twice. The opportunity to see it in person was my first in Adelaide was a great experience. A friend sent me photos back then in San Francisco but only the exterior image of the huge warehouse. But once you enter that place it will change your perspective how to “beautify” you’re house.

12.25.2013 - Spending the Christmas Summer at Brighton beach is no different than having a spectacular view of Noarlunga. It is a fascinating beach with its own jetty that gives you a good walk farther from the rocks and sands. The Brighton jetty has been around but based on history it was badly damaged in the 1990s and re-built which currently features a tower at the end part. Most visitors enjoy the fishing and clear water for a dip or just enjoy the view whenever you can.

12.24.2013 - Noarlunga beach is just one of the attractions in Port Noarlunga, South Australia. The jetty itself it’s the biggest attractions to visitors who have visited this interesting place. It was awarded the cleanest beach in 2009 and 2010 in Australia. The view at the jetty is breathtaking having a close proximity of a diverse range of aquatic features making this area stand out from other coastal locations. The sands may not be as white as say the Philippines’ Boracay but its preserved with less crowds.

12.23.2013 – First store to visit at the Westfield Marion is Woolworths and you’ll see Jamie Oliver. For anyone who haven’t heard of him he’s popularly known on TLC’s fifteen minute meals where he cook some cool delicacy less than half an hour. Woolworths is the biggest supermarket/grocery store in Australia. They also had convenient stores which were founded in 1924. The brand ambassador is Jamie Oliver which was quite interesting that he also have some food that he produced to sell.
