NBA | End of an Era For Team Support

06.23.2017 – If you grew up watching the National Basketball Association (NBA) chances are you’re a basketball fan. In the Philippines it has become a national sport that everyone from all walks of life has admired Bird, Magic o Jordan, the GOAT.

But these icons of the game has moved on but never forgotten and it made you root for their teams because basketball is a “team sport” though right now is not a good day to root for the Chicago Bulls since they traded their future to the Timberwolves.

Tim Duncan | #ThankYouTD

07.12.2016 – The NBA will never be the same again, well probably for those who grew up watching the games in the 1990s. Tim Duncan, the greatest Spur ever has decided to hang up his sneakers after nineteen seasons with one team early today.

There’s no one like Tim Duncan, who was drafted by the San Antonio Spurs as their first pick in 1997. ‘The Big Fundamental’ was no bigger than the team, and he was unlike any player in this present era could be like the great Tim Duncan.

Kevin Durant | Its Not Everyone's Decision.

07.05.2016 – It has been six years since LeBron James took his game to South Beach and during that time forming a ‘super team’ was unheard of. You can’t count the Boston Celtics when they traded for Kevin Garnett who is no longer at his prime.

But with Kevin Durant announcing his decision to join the Golden State Warriors is like the almost same atmosphere when James left the Cavaliers in 2010. But this time the story revolves around Kevin Durant, the ‘franchise player’ of the Thunder.

Rising Star: Sofia Román Takes on Manila!

08.22.2015 – Ricky Rubio had a long two-day event from yesterday’s presser to going around the city having his photo with the Rizal monument to hanging out with the local personalities at the same time making a visit to small towns.

He also had a photo at the local basketball court in that town that had a set up with his image all over the area.

Earlier today he was also occupied with basketball clinics and interview. But after Ricky left we stayed and caught our attention to a young player.

#DROSETOUR Post-Coverage!

09.17.2013 – The weather was not cooperating but it was better than having a storm. But this does not stop Derrick Rose from continuing his last leg of the #DRoseTour for Asia which the Philippines as its last country to visit before heading back to the US.

From his arrival Saturday morning from his trip in China to attending the adidas Originals party that night the former league MVP of the NBA was definitely all-in with the local scene in supporting the brand. The Chicago Bulls 2008 Rookie of the Year was participating in Sunday’s activities from playing mini game to awarding the prizes.

D. Rose Impressed Manila Fans!

09.15.2013 – Derrick Rose, the Chicago Bulls point guard is in town on his final leg for the #drosetour event. The weather was not helping when you travel from the Mall of Asia by jeepney and taking the MRT all the way to Cubao.

The event started smoothly as always but not as what you’d expect it to be if you’re a casual spectator of the game. Well namely the game of basketball which speaks the international language which has become the Philippines’ favorite past time.

Just being there is electrifying and being a fan definitely makes you not miss seeing an actual Chicago Bulls player.

Jordan Brand: When Old Used to be New!

05.03.2013 – What used to be new is now old but not gray like anyone coming of age. I’m talking about an old shoes from 5 years ago that I acquired in a warehouse sale. It’s the Air Jordan 3 Black Cat Edition.

It’s been a while since I revisited these shoes… Actually it’s just there on top stacked in a pile of boxes collecting dust beside another Jordan Brand shoes that I retired from being beaten from its use.

I originally bought these pairs back in 2008 in the midst of the Eraserheads first reunion at the Fort where Ely Buendia has a mild stroke while performing and under pressure since it was the time his mother passed away.

Happy Birthday Stephen. A Prelude to STGCC?

08.26.2012 – After Mico Suayan’s comic book signing at The Forum in Fully Booked at High Street in Taguig Sandy or Comic Odyssey invited us to dinner at Italianni’s Restaurant just a few shops after Fully Booked. The group that greeted Mico at the store was Stephen Segovia and Jason Paz with their friends. Gab Cheekee of the Filipino band Parokya Ni Edgar with his girlfriend was present.

Mostly before everyone went down for Italianni’s the discussion started with what went down at SDCC 2012 last month with Sandy and Gab’s girlfriend talking about the freebies that Punky picked up during that event.

Sleepless in Seattle without The Sonics!

02.25.2012 – Do you remember The Seattle Super Sonics? Any NBA fan would remember because of Gary Payton and Shawn Kemp in the 1990s.

They were a remarkable team during the height of the team’s popularity but also over shadowed by the greatness of Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls when they reached the NBA Finals in 1996.

Who would have thought about that team at this time? Ever since the franchise was bought by businessman Clay Bennett in 2006 and moved it to the city Oklahoma there was a huge apathy for the city of Seattle.

adidas Basketball: Team Signature to Crazy Light!

05.30.2011 - It wasn't a fluke but it was definitely a blessing. If you work hard for it without stepping everyone's toes you'll get there. Close friends will be there to support you for being unselfish. Its how the way of things to live by that brings the best of everyone, but not one individual is gonna be shinning like they earned something. In reality, just like basketball it is a team sport.

With that said, it was truly remarkable to be part of something, and it is also humbling to know that when you put something into it and not expect something in return sometimes that dedication pays off and that's where things happening. Jump after the cut...

adidas Basketball: TS Heat Check!

05.28.2011 - Wearing it again for the fourth time. The TS Heat Check courtesy of adidas when I got invited to the launch of the shoes. I haven't been into basketball shoes in a while, but this pair was part of the product launch for adidas Philippines as one of their latest sneakers to be released locally.

The last time I wore this was during the recently concluded Adidas all 24 event just to show my support to the brand. adidas is All-in for the campaign and they're slowly growing not just in sports but lifestyle as well.
