The Minifigure by LEGO® is the most popular silhouette or character in the history of the brand since being introduced in 1979, and widely one of the most popular figures being photographed as the subject for Toy Photography in the hobby community as part of everyone’s narrative through the images they share on social media and other platforms that engage interest. But the LEGO® Minifigure is limited by its movement, and yet the contours and design of the figure are likable for its appearance. With its popularity, there are customizers and third-party designers that would add something unique to their take on the Minifigure design that keeps them relevant and interesting.

When you see LEGO® bricks in places you don’t expect to be it just makes you see it in a different perspective. From an almost 65 year old plastic brick you never expect an ordinary toys would transcend cultures and break boundaries for being originally made for children. These days that’s what you see in a LEGO® brick or some random product that is similar to the famous brand. Earlier today, while passing through a well-known local mall in the CBD came across the newly renovated section of the commercial district to see Louis Vuitton to the LEGO® bricks that made up of the store’s window display. But not all of it is entirely using the famous construction brand, but it can be seen here that enhanced the display.

In so many ways you can say Art, Toys, and Photography intersect to create a new content that is redefined by its perspective.I’ve been into it for so long that it has become a secondhand that the only thing I’m running out is ideas. But sometimes I find these ideas in the small things whereas a random discussion or a random thought that suddenly pops up. This is where things get challenging and at the samtime interesting. I don’t prepare for the setup comes to me by something that triggers that idea. Just like the tail end of an art event I attended last night, which sparked an idea from a conversation was something just happened.

“Space Cowboy Saturday” is a once a week photo activity on Instagram that you’ll find being used as a hashtag. When you view this there’s a plethora of interpretation what the words meant. When I heard of the word “Space Cowboy” it immediately referred me to the Japanese anime hit series Cowboy Bebop from the late 1990s that featured Spike Spiegel as the aforementioned guy being called with such name. But the term was used heavily as a hashtag for the day namely a Saturday activity going back to 2017. At that time my interest in LEGO photography was basic random of what set or build I have with me until I got rekindled into the interest for anything LEGO space-related named the Classic theme.

Sometimes the best laid plans don’t actually work when you’re not prepared for the task at hand. Spending almost half of the day looking for the crucial piece as part of the prop and set up is like looking for a needle in a haystack. The idea was there but the execution was a fail in so many way in finding that important device. Indoor Photography set ups are no longer my forte and yet it got me interested again. There’s this month-long contest by Brick Central called “Shot at Home” where you put your LEGO Minifigure in these places, but the challenge there was the use of home-based items that seemed quite the interest that there have been some of the best well-made set up that was quite inviting and at the same time enticing not to ignore.

It’s been a while since I did focus on putting together a mini-project that has something to do with Toy Photography as most of the time I spent using most of the composition for content use as part of a review article or reinventing the concept as an improvisation challenge personally to myself in my usual content for social media. I’ve been out of the game for far too long just taking it lightly. But recently I also haven’t done anything that needs setting up indoors to put together. Honestly, I have enough backlogs to write about some for content though this time it’s just something I want to do differently than a conventional run-in-the-mill outdoor composition that has become a routine. Also, I got to acquire some of the most recent LEGO Minifigures that includes DC’s Stargirl from that series.

Toy Photo Stories | Playground Splurge

Early this morning on the usual errand in-between the trip to buy lunch at the nearest store I’ve added the routine to put in a cardio by walking since this is the only time I can break a sweat. There have been changes since the pandemic of being cautious to what we do whenever we take ourselves going outdoors as the reason for priorities than an excuse for leisure. This does not apply to other countries that don’t have higher rates of cases and deaths. But the Philippines having more cases in the ASEAN region reported this past week it is not an easy task for every Filipino to take that discipline. When you pass through the places that use to be lively with people like the parks and playgrounds it looks glum now while charter my way to this area...

The Collective | Priority Needs

It has been more than two months and the easing of the mandatory quarantine doesn’t fit well with most people who has got used to staying indoors. Not all countries have the same protocols but if you’re in Asia most of these restrictions goes beyond what everyone can handle and it shows the difference that the world have the dame experience with this coronavirus pandemic. It’s ironic that the daily routine I have been used to continue to expand in keeping me challenged at the same time finding a workout since exercise is not from everyone’s mindset. Walking around helps but taking a stroll farther from the usual route is something out of the perspective already was a small feat but an accomplishment.

Getting Lost in the LEGO® Store

01.28.2019 – There’s a rare occurrence to end up in a LEGO® store on a Sunday because nothing much is happening. But it was quite a trip to be back here again at the Park Triangle Store. For those unaware this is rarely a visited shop among the five that was established in Metro Manila. It’s not usual to be here as I’ve visited this place less than a handful of times. It so just happens that the Build-A-Minifigure caught up the interest and part of the store’s identity aside for the Pick-A-Brick that keeps AFOLs from coming back. Well, depending on what parts and accessories that might be useful enough to be used as a prop for those photography projects in the pipeline. If you happen not to get pass by this was one of those rare days…

Aussie Community | Life After SBLUG Meetings

08.07.2018 – LEGO communities in Australia mostly in regional state in South Australia is very different from those based in the big cities. It also different in Southeast Asia since I’ve never been part of any group aside from being in the Philippines is something of a privileged at the same time humbled. In the past couple years being part of SBLUG (Southern LEGO Users Group) feels like in a family rather than just another toy group. You can’t compare it to another or being part of in another country. You can’t define it but they made the experience more welcoming just being present and treating you like you’re part of it.

Brickstameet | Adventure at Mt. Lofty

04.30.2018 - It was an eventful Sunday going up the Adelaide Hills would be something to tell a story about. But going up there poses quite an amount of challenge. I’m very fortunate and appreciative to have a good and loving community around me that you really feel part of a group, and I was grateful to have them. I’m talking about the SBLUG (Southern Bricks LEGO® Group), which held their recent community members for some “Brickstameet,” which is held every two months on an on-location “Toy Photography” gather featuring each member’s favourite LEGO® minifigure or set that they can use as subject for their photography.

There are challenging moments that not everyone can recover from it, but only a few can show that there is hope on this planet. Toblerone, a Swiss chocolate brand has just turned 100 years last year for 2009 their campaign is all about gratitude with the National Thank You Day. There’s a contest about this campaign and for my entry won't have real people, but to show you how to promote this year's National Thank You Day by Toblerone. This entry is about appreciation through the concept of Toy Photography featuring LEGO® Minifigures showing compassion in this theme.

Father's Day with Indiana Jones & Mutt Williams

06.21.2009 - Taken some almost two weeks ago at The Fort Bonifacio High Street. Using Indiana Jones & Mutt Williams. If you haven't seen Indiana Jones & The Crystal Skull then you must see it to believe and astound.

Though its a box office dud the movie also shows how Indy comes of age being father to Mutt William who he never knew.
