In every artwork, there’s always a journey behind its proof of concept, and it is unrelated to the familiar title of the exhibit. It might be a theme that often relates to the personal experience of the artist having indulged in something he or she enjoys in their everyday life. Sometimes, there’s no context to it, and then there is the storytelling that drives each painting that stands out. Jomike Tejido’s “Sweet Dreams… Are made with these” is not taken from the classic song that British synth-pop duo Eurhythmics popularized in the 80s. But something special and interesting takes on the title of his latest exhibit at the Galleria Nicolas, which is currently running at the gallery that inspires even the kids at heart.

Whenever a new exhibit has opened it must bring good vibes and a sense of interest that invites not just only those who appreciate art, but also random people from all walks of life. For Jomike Tejido, it must be second-hand to his ever-growing work to express his thoughts and to communicate through art. It’s not just those who have known him for so long, but also those who discovered his work in the art gallery. Another solo art exhibit for Jomike in the books, but this one doesn’t just stop at one part of the gallery featuring his work. But the entire gallery has dedicated every space of it featuring all his paintings and his wooden art toys that have become part of the show for almost a year now and it continues to be impressive even internationally.

Galleria Nicolas | Hirameki: Cloudscapes

Cloudscapes can be viewed from Earth and often include just enough landscape to suggest scale orientation weather conditions, and distance (through the application of the technique of aerial perspective). Cloudscape and skyscape are sometimes used interchangeably, although a skyscape does not necessarily require a view of clouds.** It is an art by itself of a view of clouds or the sky. Rarely, if you would define one if you live in a densely populated city. But while living in another country in a small city in Adelaide, there are directions you can see the clouds or if you are outside of the CBD you will see cloud formations and most of it during the “golden hour” such as defined by a part of the title of Jomike Tejido’s latest Solo Exhibition.

Everyone needs inspiration, it could be anything and everywhere to create something optimistic for everyone to strive for in everyday life. “Wonderfully Made” is the title of this two-artist exhibition, which celebrates something good and beautifully crafted that would possibly motivate a random stranger to be inspired to create something that would pass on this motivation in another shape or form. Jomike Tejido and Haraya Ocampo collaborate to produce ‘something like that’ with lots of colours and well-meaningful creations through their artwork for their second time to collaborate to produce a celebrated art show that would not only include new paintings from both artists, but it also accompanied by a wooden sculpture.

Galerie Joaquin | Dragon Boats

“Dragon Boats” is the latest solo art show featuring Jomike Tejido, and this will be something really special for being the 20th time he goes out and brought the best of his craft from the paintings to each accompanying “art toy” that is one of one that is also having very intricate details with layers of storytelling in each creation. It is one of Jomike’s massive creations culminating in decades of studying art through his own past works at the same time parallels being a children’s book author. His process and evolution are something to be admired and an absolute inspiration is beyond just being a contemporary artist. If you thought his past works were already grand, this one certainly strives to push the limits beyond what most already knew.

“Olympus” is a word or a place used in the Greek Mythology. In some contexts it’s a mountain in Greece or home of the gods. It can define to someone ‘who has pinnacle of success,” which is the title of the solo show for Jomike Tejido starting the new year right with refreshing concepts that he continues to build and challenge himself. For this year, Jomike mixes up with his refreshing art style and adding installations to round up a narrative that convey that’s something far from the Greek Mythology or mount Olympus. But it speaks volumes to how he put together this show that is like pushing himself to make it on top of mountain of challenges in taking you to his journey as an ever evolving contemporary artist.

The World is changing every moment in every second that some might not notice, but one thing stayed the same is how we view the world Above and Beyond, which it might sound cliché to ever say it is also the title of a two-man show between Patrick Esmao and Jomike Tejido, which features two art styles that defines this art show. It is also worth noting that Galerie Joaquin features two of their best artists that continue to churn out some of the best works in contemporary art that few would even take a look. The featured two themes also gives you a view of these two artists take on this project, and present you a fresh perspective of the world we live in as well as how both gives you a contrasting view in how they express it.

There are wonderful things that some might not be interested into, but when you try to interpret these works, which gives a new meaning to any individual who would describe them in their perspective. They may be lines and colours, but for art is always subjective in nature that is redefined in a fresh perspective. Galerie Stephanie’s current two-man show featuring Pepe Delfin and Jomike Tejido has been up since April 19th, and will be having its last viewing tomorrow as of this writing, which is winding down. 03.03.2019 – In the last two years the contemporary art scene in the Philippines has become a regular staple of events over the weekend like every Saturday there’s a new solo or group show featuring these talented individuals. There’s more to just appreciating art and call it for what it was and rarely you’ll find that you gravitate to. But there are others who have been around to showcase their artistry that define what truly appreciative about what is out there. Jomike Tejido is one of these talented individuals that you’ll find his work unique that makes him stand out. This is his tenth solo show that deserves a spotlight that you may find it interesting.
