Whenever a new exhibit has opened it must bring good vibes and a sense of interest that invites not just only those who appreciate art, but also random people from all walks of life. For Jomike Tejido, it must be second-hand to his ever-growing work to express his thoughts and to communicate through art. It’s not just those who have known him for so long, but also those who discovered his work in the art gallery.
Another solo art exhibit for Jomike in the books, but this one doesn’t just stop at one part of the gallery featuring his work. But the entire gallery has dedicated every space of it featuring all his paintings and his wooden art toys that have become part of the show for almost a year now and it continues to be impressive even internationally. |
Fresh from his international show in Spain, this is Jomike’s second solo show in Manila for this year and it is a big one to end the calendar year. Everything that he learned as an artist continues to evolve and he puts a sense of joy into each one of them. The wooden art toys are one of one, and it is something for any art collector to have in their collection.
With each release, there’s a story involved or an inspiration he has seen in his travels overseas. Besides being a visual artist, Jomike is an accomplished Children’s Book author, and these wooden art toys are sort of the extension that part of his growing list in his career not just as an artist, but as an accomplished individual very few can see in his resume. For “Arcoiris” (“Arco iris” in Spanish means “Rainbow”), he combined his art style and storytelling into one colourful event, which is this solo art show.
It is something to see in person, but in case you won’t be able to visit the gallery, here are some images from the exhibit that are worth looking at:
