Celebrating Heroes Both Fact & Fiction!

It has been more than a month since the ECQ (Enhance Community Quarantine) has been announced in the Philippines and things feel like it was forever for most people.

But for those who never stop hoping and believe there are heroes out there despite the coronavirus pandemic things to be considered about celebrating a few.

The past weekend if you’re aware of the dates have some significance for those who have been comicbook readers and sports fans. But to those who are unaware this will give you a little bit of insight for the fictional hero that debuted more than eight decades ago and those who followed a sport team that dominated the 1990s.


Real world heroes today are not soldiers, police men, or even fire fighters, but Medicals Doctors and Nurses. They are now in the frontlines fighting an unseen enemy that majority of people all over the world would not understand that this deadly virus has claimed millions of lives all over the planet.

This is now the reality everyone is experiencing being in isolation, but not all countries have the same quarantine protocols. Most people in Southeast Asia don’t have proper living space to ever experience proper isolation and Mental Health suffers adding more anxiety. But for those who try to persevere and find ways to cope everyday isolation they turn to popular culture for inspiration and motivation.



18 April 2020 | Action Comics at Eighty Two

Superman is the first metahuman hero in the mainstream comicooks, though this Kryptonian is not the first hero. But the very genesis of the term “Super” Hero, DC Comics redefine the comicbook genre with the introduction of the Man of Steel and celebrated its 1000th issue returning to its legacy number in 2018.

Not only that he also returns wearing the iconic red trunks to the DC Multiverse that was slowly changed in the early 2000s even adapting it to the live action reboot of Superman’s Man of Steel starring Henry Cavill that also the introduction of the DC Extended Universe, where he also appeared in two succeeding films.

The 80-page 1000th issue was both a milestone for DC Comics featuring a plethora of writers, artists, and creative teams that contributed to the Superman mythology past, present, and future. Today, Superman is now 82 years old and still currently continues the legacy number that also followed by Batman in 20119 with Detective Comics.

The Chicago Bulls has dominated the NBA in the 1990s, but the 10-part documentary will give a new insight to the team trying to win their sixth title in eight years. They redefine the modern sports team during that era where social media still doesn’t exist.

But Michael Jordan has granted a media team using single-camera recording 500 hours of footage of the team after capturing their fifth championship in 1997 to that last shot in Delta Center. The first two episodes have finally aired on Netflix outside of the US the day after its original aired date on ABC/ESPN.

It not only focuses on Michael Jordan’s story, but the many personalities that made this Chicago Bulls team that defined greatness in this era 22 years ago. The first two episodes of the documentary not only reveals behind the scenes during their run on the sixth title. But also, rare footage of Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen’s youth how both men was raised by hardworking parents even though they faced poverty before making it to NCAA and being drafted in the NBA.



This past weekend surely gave everyone their heroes to celebrate both from their respective pasts that continues to be relevant in the present, which also a constant reminder in these challenging days never to lose hope. But continue to inspire and find creativity in making your own path.
