Grind in Photos | Sunday Morning Hustle

It has been almost two month now since the world went into lockdown. Some countries has found a way to contain the coronavirus and some are still unfortunate in how to deal with the repercussions. While not all countries have the same restrictions still have the freedom to go to parks and beaches, the Philippines don’t have that luxury mostly those living in a densely populated area.

Though restrictions imposed doesn’t mean all the cities within Central Luzon including the major towns in Metro Manila follow a very stringent protocol it still worth noting how anxiety of isolation greatly impacts those who are used to social gatherings. Personally, I’m used to it but this does not mean it doesn’t affect me...

The past days I’m lounging in my room eighty percent most of the time and forty of those usually napping in the afternoon. I don’t know about you or anyone who might deal a common anxiety being up all night, but I tend to have those more before the ECQ (Enhanced Community Quarantine) was imposed.

I’m more socially distanced that going out makes anxiety heightened up. It is the exact opposite that the opportunity to get out of the house that gets a little bit intense. The errands I do before noon time to go out and grab some snacks at a nearby convenient store, which has become the daily routine gives me that sense of stress. But I won’t let that get to me instead I push myself to go through the anxiety by taking a longer route to my regular destination.

Outside the Regular Zone

Every day from day one of the ECQ I have taken a smaller route that slowly became different to give myself that opportunity to get used to being outside the street for a minimum of fifteen minutes. Earlier this morning I changed my route to something I haven’t been in a long while as you can see some of the images are outside the range of location that became the standard route.

I have not seen Gil Puyat Avenue for a while seeing that people started to go out doesn’t mean the restriction has loosen up. Take one example that is supposed to be essential is the Post Office, which probably the only Asian country that closed this service while in Australia they made sue Aus Post is still operational on delivering mail and what not to those who can’t get out.

Makati’s other city, namely the business district is blooming with flora and fauna as I walk at a nearby park seeing it from a distance. The long street of Gil Puyat that divides the two parts of Makati-CBD and from the side of Makati, where I reside that doesn’t have an update if there’s an assigned team that disinfect the street. The other side of course through the “Make It Makati” social media has the daily update on the situation as I previously mentioned.

Zooming with Familiar Faces

After the long walk going to the convenient store I hurriedly went back as I checked the time for another Zoom meeting with people I’ve met back in South Australia. The last time I had so much interaction was during the first Sunday of April when I finally got to talked to them since I left in August 2018. This time around I get to see more of them namely the former organizer of the Brikstameet and those who I regularly chat with. They’re good people and it was great talking with them for 80 minutes just seeing their smiling faces and what they’ve been building using LEGO.

If the LEGO Masters Australia wasn’t restricted for online broadcast I’ll probably see more on how they take the build challenges. There are two teams representing South Australia and one of them was zooming with us, which was the first time I had the chance to chat with Jodie, the partner of Jenny in the show. I’m rooting for them that they stay longer with Trent & Josh. Unfortunately, the only way I can see the shows is the highlights uploaded on YouTube, which is better than none at all.

Wrapping Up with a Stream

I was hoping after the virtual meet up with the community I would be sitting here doing other productive things. But turns out I dozed off for more than an hour and I get to see one of my favorite buskers from Adelaide stream again. I try to minimize my time on social media, but as much as I can catch Andy Salvanos going live stream is good enough for me while just lounging in bed.

And just like that Sunday was done that quickly and it’s only the third day of May 2020. I’m actually behind my personal tasks from all that napping. I had popcorn earlier and did my speedy outdoor toy shoot at the park. Tomorrow there’s more stuff to do and the days goes quicker when you’re idle. I don’t know about you but that’s how my day goes since 16 March 2020.

I did open the only 100 pieces puzzle that a friend sent to almost 11 years ago and did open another LEGO polybag set. I’m practically disorganized now than what I was before this pandemic happened. Right now, the challenge to head to bed might be nearly impossible but it never hurts to try right?
