Grind in Photos | Just Another Sunday

The writing process in putting together this starts with the pictures and how to describe each of them taken like the journey you share with the reader. It is often I write and describe what was happening this Sunday morning on another routine errand that has taken me to the places I used to pass through and it has been a long time since I’ve been in these parts.

It has been more than two months since the world was divided and closed all borders to every country due to this pandemic. It is still astonishing how this is becoming complicated every day. This is how we deal with things out of our control and only what we can do is work our way on how we approach it to avoid the anxiety.

I’ve gone through some of these challenges and for the reason even before the pandemic has shut down the planet I’m used to isolation. But this is not the same as your personal isolation since 16 March 2020 my mind has been switched off from doing productive things besides the daily errand of heading to the nearest convenient store by taking a longer route to explore the perspective.

In the past few days and weeks there have been images that amounted in my personal archive that has become part of the stories and journey during this ECQ (Enhanced Community Quarantine). From images nearby to gradual expansion of where I can go and see what’s out there at the same time get to feel around how people are dealing with this every day. While friends from overseas check on me how things are different from here and to my former residence of two years it is more challenging here than there as their quarantine protocols are relaxed that you’re still allowed to take a walk at park reserves or still do the jogging you need.

But here the way things are set up not everyone has a front or backyard since the allowed space has cramped up residence the size of a bathroom/toilet into what some people call it a house. Like anyone fortunate to live with enough space to be separated with your families I also appreciate that simple luxury. Sunday had a fine weather the sky was blue and there are less vehicles traveling in the two cities of Makati.

The overpass usually have a security guard stationed there, but for today this is his off while motorcycles and pushbikes dominate the street below crossing the other side again still takes precaution. But there aren’t that much people in the streets as opposed to the work week since the quarantine protocols have eased its way. Taking the route near the major hospital you can see where the most crowds buying food is empty.

The hospital is usually busy as vehicles parked nearby take most of the space that used to be empty on weekends. After passing through that area getting into the street, where most of the fast food restaurants are located this area is alive even the park nearby has a food truck just sitting in the sun.

Taking the route a top of the elevated walkway it still has people walking on both directions, but not as busy as it used to be. I’d take this route going to the commercial area but since I’m limited for time I headed back going to the end part which used to have food establishments that are currently temporary closed. Then headed to the underpass to get to the other side and going back to where my original route was at the convenient store. It is still summer but not as humid like the past weeks made everyone feel like they’re living near the flames of a fiery volcano.

Wrapping up the day by having a take away lunch from Burger King and this is the second time to having a Whopper, but this time I got the Pepperoni Whopper complimented by onion rings since they ran out of fries and washed it down with apple juice is like a closing the story on a high note.

It’s just another day personally and after that I took a long afternoon nap. Food comma is ridiculous since this pandemic it’s hard to shake it off. But everything else is all good for now.
