Cove Civic Centre | Marion Libraries

07.02.2018 – Libraries are essential to every community and in South Australia every suburb has it. In the City of Marion, there are three libraries that support this endeavor of learning and reading for children as well as adults too. I spent most the time at the Marion Library located at the back of Westfield Marion just opposite Bunnings Warehouse since its close where I reside.

But never have the chance to explore the other three libraries not until yesterday when a friend offered to drive up to Hallett Cove to accompany him to assisting in search for car parts. Of course, I had to oblige to save up taking Adelaide Metro on a Saturday morning. It was also good timing to visit another friend who organized a photography workshop as the Cove Civic Centre that day too.

The drive to accompany a friend was another story to share, but after being dropped off to Cove Civic Centre for the first time I did not hesitate to check the place. This part of Hallett Cove that connects with the shopping centre is brand new as I had a quick lunch at a nearby Maccas and a look at the BigW branch there before heading to the library.

Cove Civic Centre is located at 1 Ragamuffin Drive, Hallett Cove and is home to a library, business hub and community spaces. It opened sometime in August 2015 and besides the library it also provides the community with a facility that is flexible and supports a diverse range of activities, to provide meeting spaces for people to connect for learning and recreation pursuits and to support local businesses with their endeavours.

It was my first time visit the place and being keen on checking what they have got me going around the area seeing what it had that the library nearby where I live doesn’t have. After a friend’s photography workshop was done and did some help cleaning up with the toys I looked around and here’s what I find it interesting with Cove Civic Centre’s library…

Community Meeting Places & Workshops

Every modern library should have this by now for those conducting workshops and private meetings. It is indeed FREE and all you need is scheduled it with the staff. There inside a couple of meeting rooms for this and this library has set up for this just like the workshop a friend just had earlier that day. You can see in the glass windows are brightly lit during the day and illuminated properly at night.

It’s like a classroom as you notice the LEGO diorama set up by the kids have been there in the table. I would probably dig in the plastic container and build my own piece to add to this growing community of creations. But it was about to be torn down as time for clean up!

Books, Music, Movies, and More

In any library in the City of Marion caters to all type of media besides the usual books that you’ll find here are music in audio CDs that is also includes the audio books as well as DVD and Blu-ray formats of animation, film and television is available at their archives that makes it a plethora of so many good stuff to borrow when you’re about to head home from doing school research is something to wind down.

What makes this place is up to date as well is the newest books featured for the month just like the other three libraries that I find it challenging not to miss out if you’re a regular library visitor. There’s this part of the area, where you can find their latest picks by the staff is set aside in a shelf that you’ll never going to miss it and if it was a creature already it’ll bite you asking to “pick it” before you leave.

Toy Library

The library at the back Westfield Marion doesn’t have a Toy Room and this is one of those places that have it. Of course, that’s where they’ll probably keep the LEGO containers. Besides that there are other toys too that they have in their archives that got me curious, but never had the chance to rummage through as time was limited during that day.

It was impressive to find that this Toy Library may have some of the neat stuff I may discover someday when I get my chance to visit this place again. It was interesting too that this place is only three years old and it is very new as I see the walls are very clean indeed.

Chairs with a Great View

Though not all libraries are created equal this one at Hallett Cove certainly has something to get you relaxing with a good read while admiring the view from its glass windows. The location of this library is grand when you have the chance to visit and just pick something to read will give you some of the interesting view this side of the city’s upstate area.

There are so many chairs to grab a good read with this place and it is why this library gives you the “me space and time” for some downtime with that graphic novel or good reading on history. Cove Civic Centre and a return trip to this view is going to be good fun beside the computer area for free internet connection and use of the facility is certainly one of the best parts of this place.

It was a fine Saturday for a trip to another library this time at the Cove Civic Centre. There must be more to see here if you dare and it was a short travel to getting to know the people too. But rest assured you won’t get lost in the shelves on what you’re looking for and the staff is there will surely give you that helpful assist.

Special acknowledgement to Marion Libraries, where to borrow other the movies, television series, and music that you can also take home just LIKE Marion Libraries on Facebook and follow on Instagram or visit the website at: www.Marion.sa.gov.au/venues-and-facilities/libraries
