HW Justice League | Bully Goat

Superman is a celebrated comic book hero who is now 87 years old. Today, the character is celebrated for his first appearance in Action Comics #1 in 1938. The comic book has been published by DC Comics way past its 1000th issue, and they did celebrate that back in 2018. Fan all over the world would post their appreciation as their favourite character, and then there are some even clutching their action figures.

There has been A LOT of Superman merchandise out there, but in die-cast form, you can only count a few that Corgi would produce, as they were the first to be licensed to produce DC-related characters into their vehicles, and Superman is one of them. But Hot Wheels would expand beyond what everyone knew.

There have been several “Superman” cars that Hot Wheels produced that seemed unrelated to the character. Usually, those vehicles would have deco or livery based on The Man of Steel. But Superman has no association with the vehicle and has appeared in various media, particularly in the comic books. The distinction of having so many cars that Mattel has produced for its Hot Wheels brand belongs to Batman.

The Dark Knight Detective owns A LOT of Batmobiles. Superman does not have a vehicle of his own, except for one by Corgi during the height of the Super Friends cartoon that depicted the Supermobile, produced in 1979. It’s the one Hot Wheels did not produce, but they have a lot of Superman cars to go around.

In 2018, during the promotion of Zach Snyder’s Justice League, there was a 5-pack produced featuring five of the six heroes appearing in the live-action film, except for Jason Momoa’s Aquaman in the mainline. The headline in that 5-pack is, of course, the retooled Batmobile now depicting a large cannon after it was damaged in the Batman V Superman film. The other cars included have existed before having the character’s deco and livery.

Superman’s colours and insignia are featured on the Hot Wheels Original car, the Bully Goat, which was designed to look like a muscle car inspired by the Pontiac GTO with futuristic aesthetics. The casting has been around since 2005, and this is the first time that the car features Superman’s colours and livery down to the ‘S’ and lines of his costume that appeared in Man of Steel (2013).

The casting is interesting in itself, having other features not tied to Superman. Besides that, it uses the design of Superman’s costume, including the ‘S’ shield that can be seen on both sides of the car, and it has speaker subwoofers that can be seen on the rear windows embedded in the interior.

Its features look aggressive and muscular; the Bully Goat is an appropriate car for Superman, except for the wheel choices that the designer has used for this casting. You can only get this car from the Justice League 5-pack, and it might be the only car that features Zach Snyder’s Man of Steel. Despite that, Hot Wheels has released a previous line of Superman cars, this is probably the definitive one.
