Adelaide Life | Weekend Trip to Port Hughes
The truth is ‘Australia Day’ for the First Nation, who lived here prior to becoming the country what everyone knew considered this date as ‘Invasion Day’ and every year since the past few years many have took the downtown streets of Adelaide near the parliament house in peaceful protest to change the date to respect the indigenous nation to respect what they’ve gone through several hundred years ago.
I’ve becoming more of seeing some similarities how the Philippines was invaded some 400 years ago by foreign nationals and yet never recognized the day of reckoning or how Datu Lapu-Lapu manage to thwart Ferdinand Magellan’s arrival to be known as victory to celebrate. It is the way how the local Aussies value to remember the dates to be shared with future generations.
This brings to the discussion about that long weekend that started last Friday’s early morning trip to Port Hughes after not having a decent sleep from work. I’ve been to Port Hughes several times with exception to 2015. Last year, it was that long camping unrelated to this past weekend sometime in December was the time spending the three days at the camp site and catching fresh seafood at the jetty.
I was thinking of just staying at home for this duration, because I just need a break for myself alone. But this was quite a challenging start of the year, and I guess long trips spending Friday again at this place was probably good enough to cool off from the day-to-day non-stop work at Glenelg.
Though not much photos taken, it was the extensive walks around some parts of Port Hughes I’ve never been to was quite the exploration. It has become a yearly traditions to most Aussies to take some time off during the Holidays specially when this date rounds out as you see the caravans line up at the parking lot or some of them have been around a few days earlier.
The best part for most of those who have moved to this country is simply the great outdoors and the fishing along the jetty. The catch of the day for this year was in abundance of crabs and blue squids that you see in the local markets going for $25 AUDS while you get it here fresh and free.
Road trip experience something I really appreciate and it gives you time to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The regional state of South Australia has better perspective not too primitive and probably some of the best parts of this state.
I admit to really like the environment unlike comparing to somewhere else. This is what you call a province and some of these photos give you a reason to enjoy it too.
