Grind in Photos | Weekend Visuals

The weekend was a random visual story after the Philippine government made some major announcements after the height of the coronavirus (COVID19) has become pandemic by WHO (World Health Organization). With this news Metro Manila is going to be on lockdown and community quarantine is a must to curb the increasing infection that claimed thousands of lives all over the world.

Friday night was already an intense situation that commuting from one place to another was both challenging and nerve wracking to say the least. I had to be up early Saturday morning to visit a friend who usually takes a long Holiday to his native province somewhere in Rizal that he’s already bummed out being stuck at home.

If there’s so much to take in this announcements and major news is it helps to find time to spend with family. For those who always want to “paint the town red” it is time for you to learn how to find time to be creative than just think every day is Christmas as reality is right now is not a good thing with the virus.

Personally, I took the risk to travel out of Metro Manila is to see a friend and also find the time to detoxify from the densely populated city. If last year taught me to be early this time around it also given me a lesson about being aware where I was going and it was not an easy task. There were no buses on Saturday and transportation that will take you out of Metro Manila is very limited.

Saturday Out in Rizal

UV Express was the only option I had to take on my way out of Metro Manila going to Rizal and it was cramped now that most people are going back to their hometown. It was the usual thing in this country about “quota-based” commutes they load up these small vans and buses to the point that there’s no space to actually move.

During the almost two-hour road travel I snoozed a couple of times and the UV Express driver was obviously un-trained with the ways of driving a service vehicle that most of the passengers are shaken up from the zigzag roads that will take everyone from their individual travels. It is so primitive that the driver lacked the ‘customer service’ and was probably hired to just earn money than show real concern to his passengers that lack proper safety precautions too.

I arrived past 3 PM and stayed there up until 7:30 PM, which to my ever gracious host had really taken care of me to have early dinner. The next thing is the Rizal Metrolink bus was the one that took me back to Metro Manila dropping off before they made it directly to Greenfield District, which was a few blocks away.

The Gloom Wrapped up Sunday

By Sunday it was a different story that Metro Manila has finally locked down all land, sea, and air travel in and out of the major cities. The surrounding places nearby looks poignant in all the photos taken that day. Events were either postponed or cancelled while some galleries were open only a few hours due to early closure.

I was running errands to stock up on some of the stuff I need heading to nearby groceries where sufficient enough that I got out of the counter quite quickly. But the rest of the days were so fast it wasn’t the usual weekend to expect.

Today was really even more challenging to some who left early in the morning for work while getting to another city was a breeze earlier the next few days wills something different now that local news outlets are randomly inconsistent. But let’s hope for the rest around the world as they say we’re not out of the woods just yet.
