Secret Fresh + EXLDMANILA | The Prussian Channel

12.17.2018 - Secret Fresh ends the year with a new exhibit featuring Pilipinas Street Plan’s EXLD Manila aka JJ Zamoranos, who continues to innovate and experiment new styles in making contemporary art refreshingly impressive that is insanely thought provoking. A painting that combines serious Prussian blue tones with mixed pop art inspiration.

“The Prussian Channel” is a jigsaw puzzle of interspersed pop culture and cartoon forms incorporated within the silhouettes of wildlife animals. The artist was up for the challenge the he’s been wanting to take his art style to the next level that is rarely seen to some who just want to stay in the medium that made them known, but not for EXLD Manila who continue to relevant with his latest solo show.

JJ Zamoranos better known for his graffiti works as part of the Pilipinas Street Plan (PSP) community has been featured in art galleries locally in the Philippines and other countries. His collaboration with Secret Fresh has made him one of the best contemporary artists in this generation. The Prussian Channel is his latest solo show to ever grace the Secret Fresh Gallery to close out the year.

Better known for his mix media art that incorporate popular culture to his works has been a familiar signature and fixture that most art enthusiasts have appreciate to see. He also does paintings that also define how talented this artist has become over the years. Merging both of his art style into this amalgamation of coolness in Prussian shades of emotional tones certainly gives a fresh look at these art pieces, which are unforgettable that have concepts breaking traditional forms into something new and relatable to a set of eyes who would appreciate art for the first time.

Top three personal favorites out of the ten pieces that EXLD Manila has produced are the “DIABOLIQ” with primary art of a cat that incorporates an element of the classic Go Lion/Voltron arm and Noodle of Gorrilaz that speaks volumes about this art piece. The other is “WREAK HAVOC”, a rhino painting incorporating QUICCS’ famous TEQ63 and Mighty Atom/Astro Boy flying off the scene. Finally, the last one is “CORVUS” that has hint of Japanese element and that familiar Darth Vader dude from Star Wars.

“The Prussian Channel” will be on exhibit starting 16 December 2018 to 3 January 2019 at the Secret Fresh Gallery in Ronac Art Center, Ortigas Avenue, San Juan. It’s one of the three featured solo shows that also have art pieces from Yoskay Yamamoto and Katrina Cunca.
