The Last Jedi | It Ended Before Awakens

12.20.2017 – By now you’ll probably have seen The Last Jedi in cinemas or you’re one of those fortunate bloggers I’m sure you’re selling it big time to see this film.

I’m actually holding back what I should be saying, but now I’ve seen it I’d say I’m practically half-impressed at the same time. Meh.

The Force Awakens is what brought everyone back to the galaxy from far away. Like everyone bedazzled I was as Yoda would probably say. But this one certainly is not channelling Empire Strikes Back like some who did a marathon the last 7 films.

WARNING: If you have not seen The Last Jedi turn back and warp outta here otherwise if you saw it then good to know then read on...

I’ve read reviews, opinions, and some “click baits” the past week which is a mixed bag of creating traffic or revenue for their site. Well, you’re not going to be interested in what I’m going to say, but it’s been well past midnight as of this writing, to say the least, I’m stuck between the dark and light that’s tiptoeing like balancing The Force.

There have been more questions than a bunch of Porgs trying to annoy Chewbacca, but I’m skipping those left out inquiries to the experts who have the more deep opinion of the franchise that left me wondering what those are?

Touching Tributes and they Shit on Star Wars

Agree or to disagree that depends on your opinion. It doesn’t necessarily that you have to argue about it but healthy conversations where the narrative goes from here should be fairly constructive. Rian Johnson is trying to carve out his story for this film and there’s a mix bag of reactions to the way he handled it. Honestly, let the man do his thing and bend on the rules to make it a little bit interesting.

Sometimes when you’re running out ideas from telling a story through an outline or structure you just have to blow it up and make it interesting despite how he handled some of the characters in question. Carrie Fisher may be gone but Leia Organa certainly has The Force on this film than meets the eye. We’ve never seen it but she is actually a Skywalker, and that makes it more challenging how they’ll tell her story on the next one now that the actress has left us a year ago.

Yes, there have been things that displease some of the longtime fans where they shit on the franchise in numerous occasions, but I’m not going to repeat myself in telling you that just look it up for those who have written all about it. It’s the part that also got me to agree about in question regarding Luke Skywalker. He’s the poster boy for this brand and THE hero though there’s a point why he has to go which will drive the narrative further and that breaks the traditional part of the template in favor for some new fans. Mark Hamill himself wasn’t pleased too but obviously, it is all about what Disney getting out of when you owned LucasFilm and change the course of history.

Not in a mood for Porg Chicken

If Chewie had lost his appetite back at Ahch-To, I’ve been not having the same feeling about this film even before entering the VMax Cinema 30 inside Event Cinemas. I used to get pumped up but this is just a temporary escape to find something like what Rey would hope to have a place in this world. Indeed. The Last Jedi was a well-written story that continued from The Force Awaken that may not be in some levels of Empire Strike Back or trying to imitate its predecessor though it feels that it have those beats and some similar elements. But it deviates early on the flow of things that make it a different take on a Star Wars film.

It used to be the ‘old ways’ but as Kylo Ren would say ‘Let it Go’ so for someone who has seen Empire that was rented on VHS all those years ago nostalgia was not what I was expecting. It may earn billions from ticket sales, but like Watto, the Jedi mind tricks won’t work on me. Sure some people would be easily been swayed by its awesomeness no doubt about it, but there’s a part of me that won’t jump in for the sake of opinion. We all have our own take and reaction to what really suppose to happen in our mind's eye.

Overall TLJ was an impressive film and a long wait served ANYONE, not just the fans or would-be ones that try their best to be cool to see it first or to wield a “laser sword” as what a cranky old Luke would say. This is not going to end the way you think even though it was an entertaining spectacle that excites those who need the thrill that they rarely see in their daily life. But for me it is all about how things go through no matter which direction this is headed it will be a Star Wars film worth seeing or not to see at all. It was a good film to catch up with friends and family let’s all leave it simply like that.

“Star Wars: The Last Jedi” is a good film for everyone to see fan or non-fans of the franchise. Its one of the most anticipated films of 2017 and its finally showing in cinemas worldwide. Its now playing in Australia since December 14, 2017, from Walt Disney Australia and New Zealand.

RATED: A-
