Thoughts About | Inside Marion's Library
I’ve been into libraries in South Australia a couples of times like the time I hangout one Sunday afternoon to see a weekly LEGO building workshop in the Adelaide City Library or the time SBLUG (Southern Bricks LEGO Users Group) a local LEGO community had a photo walk through the city passing through the State Library, where old books are stored and archived in their pristine condition.
Of course, there are two libraries that TAFE manages out of a few more I have visited one in the city and in Regency Park, where a lot of graphic novels was available for anyone to borrow. And then there’s the library located inside the Marion Cultural Centre, which I have the opportunity to finally get a library card.
It’s been probably a long time since I finally had been registered a library card and I can recall having one going back when I was studying in high school. There have been a handful of times I’ve been into a library back in when I was studying and in those times they’re the ‘old school’ libraries.
In the Philippines alone there are still A LOT of public libraries, but surely not one of them is updated to the modern standards that can be helpful for anyone get their information. Pulling up a search in Wikipedia in Metro Manila alone there have been seven public, five privately owned and 39 community libraries. Not including five academic libraries in well-known universities. But for someone who was born after the internet explosion would know if these existed.
City of Marion Library
The city of Marion have three libraries and this one is located just at the back of Westfield Marion inside Marion Cultural Centre. It’s one of the libraries in South Australia that have probably the books some may not need. This library has books ranging from fiction, non-fiction, sci-fi, educational manuals, biographical books, and many more. Besides books they have Audio Books, and DVDs ranging from movies for kids and families.
Basically this is the standard library in South Australia that you’ll see if you happen to travel to this state. So each library in South Australia has also personality and they also have a play area for younger kids to enjoy their stay. This won’t be a lively library if they don’t have their own events. Every month they have a set of activities that you can join for free or paid depends on the organizers.
They’re All Connected
Libraries in South Australia are interconnected with one database if you need one book that place doesn’t have they’ll send it to the one near your area and they also have e-Books that you can access for free once you registered a library card.
So for convenience once you have registered a library card aside from that place you’ve been member of you also can borrow the books directly from another library when you visit that particular place. But even though they’re connected to each other their policy with borrowing might be different from the place you’re registered.
Its FREE Registry
Of course the library still has policy that you need to pay overdue fines if you have not returned them on time. This depends also on the policy on which library has the stricter fine, but when you have access to their online site you can extend to avoid these things.
Lastly, when planning to register a library card they don’t charge you it’s FREE. For the one at Marion they let you choose from five designs of their library card. The library card is good for three years and you can renew it. For tourist they let you register a temporary card details can be found at their website.
