Home Koming | Komikon Returns

Komikon is back and they are truly home after almost three years of hiatus the Philippine Komiks Convention return to their roots and to the original place where they started dating back to October 2005.

It was “back to basics” with all the nostalgia honoring the previous Komikons of yesteryear.

Many events have promoted Filipino komiks, but when you truly want to keep the culture and heritage in the spotlight, Komikon was the first. It is a long road back and despite the change going back to the birthplace of this event, you will know the truly passionate Komiks fans will travel to make the trip to be part of the experience.

Summer Komikon | The Saturday After

04.14.2019 – Summer Komikon is on its tenth year since its first event at the old UP Bahay ng Alumni in 2009 expands the annual Komikon event to two at the time prior to Indie Komiks Market or simply Indieket that was held in July 2012. Conventions these days are not just about what its objectives, but also something new to see here.

One year removed from this event in 2018 it was different from the one I last attended in 2017.

This event changed over the years that most people would look forward to more than the one held in October/November. The weather heating up there were few familiar faces that didn’t turned up the way you expected to see in a long time.

Komikon 2018 | Grandiose Surprise

11.19.2018 – One year removed from attending Komikon it feels different not that in a not-so good way, but it was certainly not the event I used to event since 2006.

It feels like going to a Mirror Universe of some sort for a long time and emerging back to the Prime Universe that A LOT has change. Well, it looks the same but generally entirely refreshing to visit this event again.

Komikon wrapped up its two-day event yesterday and like the usual event everyone was reeling from its successful gathering of the local komiks community. To be honest I wasn’t excited but practically satisfied to seeing familiar faces I haven’t seen in almost two years.

Kids at Heart in Mini-Komikon!

05.31.2013 – The month of May has come to an end and I was really swamped with online work not to mention updating blogs that has started to pile up.

Reality bites after coming back from a road trip seeing Playa Laiya last Saturday.

Too many things to do so little time for someone who just enjoys what he does best which is enjoying the scenery and blogging not to mention an online work.

I get to catch up with friends in the local comic book industry who were part of the event for Museo Pambata who held a two day Little Lit Festival.

Sunday Brunch with Singaporean Friends.

04.14.2013 – Post-Komikon high must have given everyone the fuel to last more than 24 hours being beyond satisfied with its success. I have just become partially witness to what comes ahead from this year’s instalment. There were a lot of good books that came out yesterday due to its “children theme” that was quite an impressive feat.

Every year the event raises its bar a notch up and the quality and effort to putting a good comic book in the Philippines has greatly improved that I must say has become something to be proud about the industry. But enough of that as I’m here to share my Sunday with a group of people post event.
