Galerie Stephanie | Yutori

“Yutori” is a Japanese word or term “a state of sufficiency and ease” that is also the title of Mr. S’ first-ever solo exhibition at the newly relocated Galerie Stephanie, which opened less than a week ago. The profound artwork of Mr. S continues to evolve with the artist's inspiration stemming from his travels in Japan and Korea.

This solo show culminates not only the opening of the gallery’s new location but also introduces new works from Mr. S who has not had his very own exhibition since 2016. It was a welcome sight to see all the work put together in bringing a fresh take on his ever-evolving work from his everyday life and personal travels inspired by these masterful artworks that you see in this show.

Mr. S is known as Mister Sasquatch shares his latest concept of work deviating from his past art style that depicts creatures and monsters from a human level of life perspective.

It depicts a new set of characters that are inspired by Japanese anime and the artist’s very own life experiences having traveled to different countries aside from Japan and Korea as well as other Asian countries, where he picks up his new inspirations, influences, and ideas to keep his “creative juices” flowing.

This all sums up in curating a new set of works that is now what you see in his latest exhibit that have been unveiled during the opening of the gallery’s current location. The character depictions of a boy’s journey encountering different creatures both human and otherwise seen in the paintings is a continuous narrative to the works Mr. S has done that makes every single painting a story by itself.

But together, it is connected in one big narrative of adventures. In case you missed the artist reception or have not visited the gallery, here are some of the images of Mr. S’ latest solo exhibition….
