Vinyl on Vinyl | March 2020 Art Shows

Friday night was extra special for Vinyl on Vinyl whenever they’re set to launch Art Shows featuring solo shows for Martin Honasan and Teo Esguerra while Mila Bubliy and Isha Naguiat set up a two-woman gallery team-up that gives you a new perspective in their masterpieces at their main exhibit area.

Beside Vinyl on Vinyl there are other galleries in the area that are also having their shows as another week winds down gearing for the weekend. Rarely, VoV opens up new art shows for the reason this is an extra special social activity for the art philes as well as family and friends of the artists that open up the night of good food and great conversations for those who have missed it this is what you missed…

It has been a while since stepping inside VoV’s current location as for those who haven’t been in the gallery circuit this is not their original home dating back to their very first opening night almost ten years ago. These days their shows open up a new batch of exhibit once or twice a month.

Vinyl on Vinyl also participates in major art shows with the recent conclusion of Artfair Philippines last month a weeklong event that feature anything and everything about contemporary art. They’re back at their homestead where they held their usual opening nights and Friday was packed for this event.

Martin Honasan | Distance Between Two Points

This is not Martin’s first solo art show with Vinyl on Vinyl, but this recent one will blow you away on the presentation and concept how he represent a mix media that has been a common sight to most art galleries in Metro Manila.

For his latest show you only need to appreciate hard work that teleports you to a world of large canvasses and how he gives you human expressions from three parts combining into one masterpiece of colourful emotions.

The long canvas that are from both ends of the main gallery hanged high above the second level is something you’ll try to dig in to the colourful paint that certainly catches most people’s attention. There’s another one, but the longer canvas is certainly what makes everything look ginormous.

Teo Esguerra | Real Estate of The Nation

From collections of tiny framed photographs to a room that has a projector flashing images of the beach where the tide lands on to clean up the sand. Of course, you got to admire the set up where there are actual sands in it. Teo Esguerra’s solo show gives you a perspective with a lot of quotes in each individual framed image.

All of them give you a mix of emotions about life, politics, and things Filipinos endure that you can sometimes relate or not. The images are in black and white with large texts of the quotes defined the overall theme of this solo show.

Mila Bubliy & Isha Naguiat | Intersection \ Likas

There are only few pieces you’ll find in this gallery when you take the stairs up on the second level. But what makes the entire two-woman show is the practical 3D concept that is divided in so many overlapping images. It is simple and straightforward to the idea but only few would understand.

But this is enough to see the centrepiece on the collaboration between the two women that are trying to give you a masterful subject for everyone’s reaction. They are all impressive in many ways and certainly unique in mind how it is simple and yet complex when you try to analyse the concept culled from two ideas.

The Art Shows presented will be in exhibit at the Vinyl on Vinyl Gallery for the month of March 2020. For more about the art pieces that featured the solos and two-woman shows follow Vinyl on Vinyl via their social media on Facebook and Instagram!
