Stallone Named Best Supporting Actor For Creed!

12.03.2015 – Sly Stallone is an icon known for his films like Rocky portraying Rocky Balboa, Rambo, and Expendables franchises.

His recent reprising of Rocky Balboa in the upcoming Creed has received critical acclaim.

Now the National Board of Review Names Stallone Best Supporting Actor for “Creed” after six previous films this one certainly will give long time fans, and introducing the character to a new generation with a knockout punch.

On the 2nd of December America's National Board of Review has just announced the winners of its annual film awards, bestowing the Best Picture prize to Warner Bros. Pictures' “Mad Max: Fury Road” and the Best Supporting Actor honor to Sylvester Stallone, for “Creed,” another Warner film.

The award for Stallone confirms Hollywood experts’ prediction that the veteran actor may be a contender for the Oscars next year.

In Variety's article titled, “Sylvester Stallone Might Have Just KO'd the Supporting Actor Oscar Competition,” author Christopher Tapley writes, “...few performances pack the emotional punch Sylvester Stallone does in `Creed.'”

Tapley continues, “With the Ryan Coogler-directed film, Stallone has now taken on the role of Rocky Balboa seven times on the big screen. He was nominated at the outset for 1976’s `Rocky' and lost to Peter Finch for the late actor’s fierce `Network' performance. But the truth is he might be even better this time around. I would be tempted to call it his best on-screen work to date as he finds such subtle, unassuming textures in the performance that both deepen a character we’ve grown to love over the last 40 years, as well as present him in a whole new shade.”

From Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures, Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema comes award-winning filmmaker Ryan Coogler’s “Creed.” The film reunites Coogler with his “Fruitvale Station” star Michael B. Jordan as the son of Apollo Creed, and explores a new chapter in the “Rocky” story, starring Academy Award nominee Sylvester Stallone in his iconic role.

Adonis Johnson (Jordan) never knew his famous father, world heavyweight champion Apollo Creed, who died before he was born. Still, there’s no denying that boxing is in his blood, so Adonis heads to Philadelphia, the site of Apollo Creed’s legendary match with a tough upstart named Rocky Balboa.

Once in the City of Brotherly Love, Adonis tracks Rocky (Stallone) down and asks him to be his trainer. Despite his insistence that he is out of the fight game for good, Rocky sees in Adonis the strength and determination he had known in Apollo—the fierce rival who became his closest friend. Agreeing to take him on, Rocky trains the young fighter, even as the former champ is battling an opponent more deadly than any he faced in the ring.

With Rocky in his corner, it isn’t long before Adonis gets his own shot at the title…but can he develop not only the drive but also the heart of a true fighter, in time to get into the ring?

Opening across the Philippines on December 9, 2015, “Creed” is distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.
