T-Wolves' Ricky Rubio Friday Presser!

08.21.2015 – adidas had a limited engagement with Minnesota Timberwolves point guard Ricky Rubio who arrived the night before the press event at the Parkade store, which invited the media on a rainy morning where the downpour didn’t stop.

But Rubio was all game to meet his fans and the media for that special presser, where he spoke about his passion for the game and the Philippines was one of the countries he wanted to visit.

Even though due to strong rains everyone came to see the man being compared to legendary Pete Maravich earlier…

The event dubbed #TakeOnManila is highlighted with Ricky Rubio’s first trip to the Philippines. He’s been intrigued by the Filipinos passion for the game and has seen the national team Gilas Pilipinas in last year’s FIBA World Cup Championships.

On a Friday rainy afternoon Ricky Rubio was all-in just like the shoe brand he’s endorsing, and rocking the latest Crazy Light Boost in blue who was introduced by local radio DJs Slick Rick and DJ Tony Toni two-thirds of Magic 89.9 FM’s Boys Night Out hosting the program.

Spanish Sensation

Ricky Rubio may not be widely known unlike Damian Lillard of the Portland Trailblazers, John Wall of the Washington, Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls or James Harden of the Houston Rockers. But he’s one of the point guards you’ll see him bring the ball in the offensive end either passing it to team mate Andrew Wiggins or scoring right at the heart of the defense.

The fifth pick of the 2009 draft by the Timberwolves didn’t splay for the team until 2011. His beginnings in the Euroleague are somewhat a legend on its own playing for the Spanish ACB League at the age 14 had an early start in his career.

His adoration for the game of basketball has shown that he’s now living a dream playing in the National Basketball Association. Wearing the number 9 jersey he has become a part of the T-Wolves image prior to the team acquiring Andrew Wiggins prior to the 2014-2015 Season. He signed a contract extension last year that will put him in the T-Wolves for the next four years.

A Boost of Crazy Light

Even though the rains didn’t stop Ricky Rubio was definitely all-in touring Manila after the press event as evident in the social media where those selected members of the media still joined him on his tour of Manila.

Of course he was still wearing the new CrazyLight Boost, which was displayed at the adidas Parkade store featuring all four colors. This new and improved CrazyLight Boost is lightweight at 12.2 ounces, and has better cushion sole with the upper now uses Primekit replacing the original textile. These where released earlier this year and are all available in all adidas stores in the country.

Three-Day Rainy Weather Stay

Ricky Rubio will be in the country for the next two days and this is only the first day on his trip to the country. He will be conducting basketball clinics on Saturday and continue to see the sights and sounds of Manila.
