Details on Ernie Chan's Passing and Remembered.

05.22.2012 – Ernie Chan who recently passed away due to pancreatic cancer last May 16, 2012 will always be remembered by his family, friends, and fans as a jolly individual who has been consistent with his appearances in the US comic conventions.

He’s been known for his works on Conan The Barbarian, Batman, Dr. Strange and many more.

A good friend who’s based in the San Francisco Bay Area has been a follower of Ernie Chan and the other Filipino contingent of artists who has made their names known when they first broke into the international scene.

Ernie Chan’s remains where brought to St. Lawrence O’Toole Parish a mass was conducted.

We got a hold of a copy of the leaflet that was distributed during the last day prior to Ernie Chan’s cremation.

This year was the biggest loss to the Philippine Comics Community not only losing Ernie Chan to cancer but also the death of Tony DeZuniga last May 11, 2012 when he suffered career ending stroke that happened last April.

Ernesto Ginna Chan will also be remembered for his works and for being a simple happy individual. He and Tony DeZuniga was much talked about during the Big Wow Comic Fest in San Jose by the remaining Philippine contingent of illustrators in Alex Nino, Danny Bulandi, and Rudy Nebres who shared a table with my good friend who did a coverage for the event for both days.

It was sad to hear both men passed away but that’s how life goes as the three artists say. Probably Ernie and Tony might be goofing around in heaven just like what they always do when they where still around.
