| There’s a place where you go and “Make a Wish” hoping for good tidings and finding the inspiration to keep moving. It sounds surreal for those fascinated with fantasy and fiction, and sometimes an art installation may take you to that far-off place that no one has ever heard of. It may sound cliché to those who never get to that dream, but this solo show by an up-and-coming artist will inspire you to do so.
The artist who can make your wish is Mimaaaaaaaaw in an artful perspective way as she represents her first solo exhibit with Vinyl On Vinyl as one of the headliners of contemporary artists that are opening their reception for the gallery. This is not Mimaaaaaaaaw’s solo show as she has done a two-artist show and group shows. |
But this is where her growth as an individual artist will be defined as how she represents her works through a narrative that takes you to a place, where you can “Make a Wish” which is also the title of her solo show. There have been other artists who have brought their fantasies into becoming an exhibit with her personality and style she puts it together in a tale that has all the elements.
Everything you see in her solo exhibit encompasses her journey as a person with a passion for art and an adoration for feline species that also takes up a part of her personality and name. The setup also gives you a look at the ‘Wishing Well’ installation with a mural on the sides, and inside there’s a bottom with a reflective floor simulating a ‘magical effect’ on the well.
Some artworks make up the exhibit, but the centerpiece is the ‘wishing well’ installation that makes the room appear to be in a different place as the entrance has an archway that no tall individual can walk through, but crouch his/her way inside painted in green walls that were newly painted during the set up of this exhibit.
There are subtle details that define Mimaaaaaaaaw’s personality in those tiny footsteps of cats as well as fake plants and flowers that simulate the room as a ‘magical place’ where all your wishes can come true in a very artistic way.
When you enter the exhibit, you want to discover the artist from her evolution from being a Street Artist to pushing her art styles to what you see in her latest solo show that will truly show her journey is not just about making a wish. Still, hard work defines who she is, and her journey continues…
“Make A Wish" is a Solo Show featuring Mimaaaaaaaaw that opened on 1 until 29 June 2024 and will be taking space in one of the galleries at Vinyl on Vinyl.
