01.24.2019 – Filipino Movies back in the late 1980s and early 1990s have its way in promoting it to the public. It’s either through an impressive mural of paintings or through merchandise, namely snacks that you can buy in your local Sari-Sari Store. These concepts have slowly died with its culture, but not without those who grew up with it until ‘TOL an upcoming film made it happen |
For those who haven’t heard of ‘TOL it is a Filipino film that tells a story about celebrated friendships of three guys that immediately went downward spiral when one of their childhood friend who left them returned as a full grown woman as the narrative of the upcoming film.
The movie is directed by Miko Livelo, who recently brought you “I Love You to Death” and “Unli Life” takes you to the world of ‘TOL which stars Arjo Atayde, Joross Gamboa, Ketchup Eusebio, and Jessy Mendiola, with Jimmy Santos as Captain Gabriel. You can check out the sixty-second trailer describing each character from the film below:
Miko growing up in the 1990s has been fascinated with Filipino comedy films and have been exposed to the local pop culture of knick knacks like junk food sold in Sari-Sari store and movie posters that were used to be painted that can be seen in the streets of EDSA became the concept marketing the film in the past few days. The main cast and crew made their local appearance through bus terminals giving away “’TOL Cheezy Snacks” and other merchandise.
But what will catch your attention if you happen to come across about the film is the pseudo-made movie posters inspired from the days where they were painted like the way it was back in the day. The lost art style making movie posters were humorously impressive and convincing to be unique from promoting the film.

Art by Doktor Karayom |
The four posters interpret the characters from ‘TOL in a cheesy Crunchy Snack by Jolo Livelo aka JOLO KICK, an old school caricature poster by JP Cuison aka Gigzilla, a 1990s style poster by Pancho Carambola aka Milo Ezel Buñao, based on his original art style by Doktor Karayom aka Rasen Trinidad.
These posters would also be considered the ones you see in art galleries. The impressive masterpiece can only be found online through Miko Livelo’s social media posts. So far no actual posters were published, but surely this is something that become’s the director’s unique way in getting your attention for you to see ‘TOL.
