Snap Squad | The Bite of Velociraptor Blue
They’re called Jurassic World Snap Squad which compos of little dinosaur figures that are super deformed or in Japanese slang “Chibi” a word describing something short with a tiny body having a big head.
Most toys that are caught up with this design concept are from Japanese anime characters that include mobile suit franchise Gundam and other manga or anime produced properties. Funko’s Pop figurines have this concept as well for the reason they’re popular among kids and young girls.
With Snap Squad they take that concept and making it their own with these mini figures of dinosaurs featuring Blue the Velociraptor that appeared in Jurassic World and Fallen Kingdom and the T-Rex that tormented the original cast of Jurassic Park to name of the popular characters made into this series. There are also the bad guys like the Indominous Rex and Indoraptor, which also have Blue’s fellow raptor pack that appeared also in the Jurassic World films.
They don’t get much attention but collectors that use them for Toy Photography certainly have them in their sights as both Blue and T-Rex (Brown) is always sold out. I got the T-Rex by chance at Toy Kingdom in SM Megamall a few months back and Blue early this year when Toys R’ Us in the Philippines had restocked the most recent wave that included that cute Mosasaurus, which I missed picking up during the height of its availability.
Recently, a friend saw mine during the trip to ELBIKON last weekend and he started chasing what’s left to complete a set which is a very tall order to pick up a challenge in getting the harder ones namely the T-Rex, Blue, Indoraptor, and the Mosasaurus
The Blue Snap Squad like the other dinos have a spring loaded mouth that you press at the back of the head and it bites nearly anything. The arms, legs, and tail are loosely attach to the body so when it pretends to bite your figure when you shake Blue it appears like flailing and still stay attached to you as part of the toy’s gimmick.
You can do so many hilarious things with this figure like biting a head of Jack Stone or make it appear like two dinosaurs are about to rip his body in two. There are some who put to army build the same figure, which is way too much already.
You only need one character and Blue is a popular one that’s why her face is on the product logo. Every Snap Squad is zip tied to the card, which is not a very good idea to just pack it like this as they easily get stolen. This is the only downside of the product that was packaged in a cheap concept and also the price point (which depends on the country selling it), but entirely the Snap Squad figures are hit.
Velociraptor Blue is part of the Snap Squad range of super deformed dinosaurs from the Jurassic Park and World franchise, which is retailed in the Philippines for 499.75 pesos ($ 9.89 USD | $14.76 AUD** ) and distributed by Richwell Club!
