MoCAF 2024 | Very Good Gallery

There are art galleries out there from the underground-type to the ones located in warehouses. But there’s one that taps into the grassroots and at the same time makes sure that art is accessible to everyone not only those who can afford it.

But to those who can find inspiration to create something beyond just art that can be considered a universal common ground for everyone and between social classes.

The Very Good Gallery is an artist-run space by two local artist scenes that are making their presence at the same time while discovering new talent that will be showcased by their newly opened art space that opened its doors early this year. This is also their first time to participate at MoCAF.

The Very Good Gallery was founded by BLIC and Mimaaaaaaaaw is building upon discovering new talent at the same time while focusing on nurturing the local grassroots. There are so many aspiring new artists out there, but most of those talents lack the guidance established visual artists have gained and made a name for themselves in the industry.

This is their first participation at MoCAF setting up on the far end of the venue you can find their booth that showcases some of the up-and-coming visual artists featured at their gallery. Despite the remote location in Imus in Cavite, Very Good Gallery still gets visitors from all over Metro Manila.

In case you missed out the past few days visiting MoCAF, here’s their set up during the last day with rotating art being featured as well as a sketch wall that you’ll find that showcases some of the works from up-and-coming talents.

De Lata 3 Mini Exhibit

Beyond the booth inside the main hall of the Maquis Event Place, there’s an extension area, where you can find another exhibit section, where you can find Very Good Gallery’s mini-gallery featuring old paint cans painted by individual artists from their vision that is on exhibit on three rack shelves.

Some established artist lend their creativity through these used paint cans that also include new artists in some of their featured works. There’s a plethora of artists here that’s overwhelmingly good to see making used paint cans as their canvas is certainly ingenious as it was done before and this is their third installment.

This is certainly a banner year for Very Good Gallery adding to its ever-growing legend status as one of the best local galleries to visit (if you’re up for a road trip) or see them participate in contemporary art-related events such as MoCAF to see what they have in their little space that continue to nurture new talent and putting a spotlight at local grassroots from the city of Imus in Cavite.

MoCAF (The Modern and Contemporary Art Festival) is currently happening from 5 to 7 July 2024 at the Marquis Events Place, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig. For more about the event, you may follow them via social media on Facebook and Instagram.
