Arte Bettina | While You Were Sleeping

Sometimes the best Art Shows in the group is its showcase how chemistry can bring an organic harmony when it comes to having a diverse group of talented individuals together, and that works in unison when their works complement each other like everything in the gears of the clock makes things move as one unit.

In this case, the three artists’ group show at Arte Bettina entitled “While You Were Sleeping” was the sum of that, which puts one of the impressive exhibits in this gallery that’s colourful and animated at the same time an impressive collection of works that defined not just the title of the show, but give you a story behind it.

The Group show featuring Kempis Ang, Happy Garaje, and Anika Loquite is the stuff Children’s Dreams are made of. The works of three talented artists inspired by the books they have read or Children’s Books they have been indulging in while growing up are the seeds of inspiration for the final product they have presented in this show.

Their concept works together very much the way all three artists have experienced the similar stories they have from their childhood finding inspiration to produce these masterful works are certainly a stuff of legends that might inspire the next generations of artists. The whimsical, fantastical, and inspirational works merge to create a narrative for their group show by itself.

If that was not enough to give you those types of vibes through the images presented you must see their works in person to have a feel through the brush strokes of the way the art toys were sculptured and put together to be this good as one of the best shows to be presented by Arte Bettina.

Kempis Ang

The way her style is presented it’s something inspired by pop art with all those colours and the way you see the blackened eyes similar to a random licensed Funko Pop figurine. It’s a mish-mash of bright intimidating colours that send you to a realm that was created out of thought.

There’s always something gleeful about seeing a combination of images that is also inspired by the other artists that Kempis has been following from the time starting out to create the style needed for this creation, and definitely, art on its own style that defines the works put together to become memorable in this show.

Anika Loquite

For Anika, this is something straight out of a Children’s storybook that defines her art style. Her spark for creativity stems from her childhood reading books in school at the same time having dreams and imagining all that she has ever thought about, which is the image cover of the group show that defines itself as the centerpiece that is presented as a thoughtful heart representing all three artists’ works.

It’s the “hook” on the Group Shows’ title and gives each artist their take on their interpretations of their dreams whiles creating their individual creations. Anika Loquite defines it as straightforward and her works are definitely straight out of their storybook that kids would definitely read with their parents before going to sleep.

Happy Garaje

The third set of art pieces presented in this group show is not a painting, but an installation of Art Toys featuring interpretations of what a child dreams. With each art pieces have their own stories to tell. Their dreams are interpreted in these sculptures which defines their stories as a whole.

This is certainly one of Happy Garaje’s works, which certainly gives the overall narrative of the three artists working together with an identity at the same time a story that has motion depicting surreal-like moments in each art toy that still have dream-like elements that illustrate the way play manifest in each of his creations.

It gives overall meaning to the title and interpretation of how while you are in your slumber you get transported to three individual worlds that define imagination as an unlimited creative process to define that dreams can be subjective to give the viewers point of perspective redefined through how they interpret back their creations.

“While You Were Sleeping” is a Group Art Show featuring Kempis Ang, Anika Loquite, and Happy Garaje that is already on exhibit, from 9 until 21 May 2023 at Arte Bettina Gallery. For more about other upcoming art shows, you can follow Arte Bettina on Social Media via Facebook and Instagram.
