Godzilla VS Kong has been already out through streaming giant HBO MAX, but in Southeast Asia it was released via HBO GO. The Philippine cinemas have been closed since the start of the pandemic. Most of the films locally and internationally have found other means to promote entertainment through streaming services. The promotion side has been scarce without the use of big screen cinemas.
But sometimes to save cost in promotion a film that wasn’t even available to be seen by a huge crowd find ways to be innovative despite that it has been used before. Case and point with Godzilla, and for those who can recall there was a huge installation at Glorietta 4 Cinemas, which you can find a Godzilla head is now relocated. |
This particular giant head of Godzilla was installed at the balcony section of Glorietta 4 just beside the smoking area that connects to the Starbucks balcony section. It was installed there during the Godzilla sequel “King of Monsters” sometime during its original screening run.
It’s not as you’d expect to be massive, but the Godzilla head is too small for its standards as the iconic kaiju is ginormous to even be installed in a mall’s balcony. If you can imagine, Godzilla in the Warner Bros produced films gives you the massive head even bigger than a building. With that said, this head still had quite an attraction when it was first installed in its original location and for a time it was most people gravitate to see when they look up.
The installation was slowly faded away and removed from its original location that people would eventually move on and forget that there was this massive head of Godzilla looking down on innocent motorists and passers-by sitting just across what’s left of the piece of greenery that is the Glorietta Park.
Currently, the head of Godzilla can now be found at the Top of the Glo, which is the fourth level of Glorietta. It is an open air location with food establishments and also connecting to Holiday Inn’s hotel entrance. There you can also find the side of Top of the Glo mostly focused on Japanese cuisine and restaurants, which is known as Japan Town. This establishment side focus on some familiar restaurants and the set up reminisce the intersecting small scale version of the crosswalk in Shibuya Crossing.
There are also printed buildings from the said crosswalk as part of the installation. But the new addition of Godzilla changes all what used to be another pictureresque selfie experience for most people that hang out there. This new set up for Godzilla makes him appear to be stuck on the roof of Glorietta when they repurposed this monster’s head as part now of Japan Town.
You’ll definitely not gonna miss it if you head to the top most floor of Glorietta via the escalators. This level also has another entrance through the Glroietta 4 cinemas. The setup is simple in nature how they made Godzilla appear to have burst into the mall’s roof and got stuck by using new additional pieces for the installation.
It’s impressive also to see that they seem to repaint the head with his scales on the back if its head is redefined to appear to be glowing. There’s no information if this is just temporary, but it has been there since the latter half of April 2021 getting quite the attention that it deserves and this might be your chance to see it too!
