Woolworths Pop-Up as Shopwise Exclusive

In these pandemic times most people would be working from their homes with that the demand for take away has been an all-time. Most establishments work force are cut down in half while the rest at mostly in their homes, and for those who were stuck sometimes they need to do something than languishing in their bubble.

Some would end up learning how to cook or bake, which becomes their side business and they end up going to groceries that has more people than the local mall had before this reality. The supermarkets now is the go to place even before this reality I’ve been frequent and just today was quite a chuckle when I saw a Woolworth’s stand inside one of Manila’s biggest supermarket, namely Shopwise to add their products.

For those unknown to the brand and name Woolworth’s or in Aussie lingo called “Woolies” is the biggest retailer in Australia, which extends to New Zealand (second biggest company in this region) has been around since it was founded in Sydney as Woolworths Group in 1924. Not to be confused or connected to F.W. Woolworth of the US, the Woolworths Group in the UK or even the South African Chain of retail stores, Woolworths Holding Limited.

They’re completely independent and also well-known not only as a retailer, but also the largest take away liquor-retailer in Australia add that they are the largest Hotel and gaming poker-machine operator in Australia.

It’s where I had breakfast a few times before taking a but to commute in the morning going to downtown Adelaide, because they open as early as 7 AM even if Westfield Marion opens at 9 AM, and last place I go to before heading home. So to my surprise that Shopwise, one of the biggest supermarket retailers in the Philippines had added a piece of Woolworth’s in their imported section was quite a treat.

But here’s another trivia for those who want to check their products as some would be surprised to know that some of them are produced in the Philippines for export. There was a time I was taking out the bin and one of the Coconut Water cartons had details and checked if it had a redeemable 10C for recycle, but it turns out there wasn’t and it was produced in the Philippines.

I like their pastries, some of the cheapest that is not included in what Shopwise have in their little section. But do try out some of their cookies and the breakfast cereals. There’s a star rating you’ll find in each packing if its healthy or not, which is unheard of in this country that should take notes why the products in Australia have better quality health and price-wise compared to their international counterparts.

Surely, the one sighted in the Makati City branch is not the only Woolies you’ll find, but in other Shopwise stores all over the country. You can definitely find their products exclusive here.

Well, until SM starts to bring Cole’s supermarket and rebranding their uber generic grocery section with an actual identity or at least at it to their import section to compete with their counterpart that would certainly interesting. But wishful thinking if they did. For now, it’s gonna be a treat to check out Shopwise’s import section having Woolies to give more choices for people to have a Taste of True Australia.
