| 02.12.2020 – Over the weekend I was knee deep rearranging my storage at the same time pulling out all the stops for my friend’s stuff that has been kept in my room since March 2011 and at that time it was a transition of sorts on his life. I just came from an 18 day stay in Tongyeong City in one of the province of Busan, South Korea.
I haven’t seen him since he left in August 2008 and by the time he came back to make a personal appearance to his then-fiancé now wife more changes happened. That was almost nine years ago when I helped him sort out his things. That wasn’t his last visit to the country as I still saw him in November 2016 before I also went overseas… |
This recent Monday I got to finally gathered up 90% of his stuff and called a Grab Car to have it brought to his in-laws’ residence to sort things out. The road trip wasn’t the usual pleasant thing about Manila especially if you’re located near the Central Business District as it took me almost an hour to get to point A to B.
I arrived somewhere in Pasig City and it was past 11 AM and treated me for brunch at the dining area his family ordered a Maccas takeaway. His Father-in-Law was so accommodating and had a short chat with him since the last time I was in their home almost four years ago before he went upstairs.
The Balikbayan Box that store all his toys and other things was totally beat up I had to use his supply of duct tape just to secure it since the box did not age well. When we were unloading it from a Hyundai Accent hatchback it almost got ripped. But finally we started sorting things and also did a video vlog about it courtesy of Mach.
Of course there were some a few ‘behind the scene’ snaps courtesy of yours truly, but not of them were glamorous although you get to see it here.
I almost spent the whole day just helping him sort out his things before they fly back to his home state. But it was a pleasure hanging out with him. I wasn’t even thought about this being possible to pull out his stuff over the weekend since last seeing him last Friday going around Shangri-La Mall and SM Megamall before calling it a day.
Of course, prior to that was a Sunday ago since they came from a Holiday trip to Boracay with his family. It was past 4:30 PM when I made it out of Pasig City and took the next tram back to Manila. We discussed about the stories how he acquired some of these toys and other things back in 2007/2008.
