Make It Happen | Makati Street Lights

11.07.2018 – When you see bright lights along the streets of Ayala Avenue in the City of Makati this can only mean one thing: The start of the festive season has begun.

It has become an annual tradition that the Makati Central Business District has made is a yearly affair to signify that Christmas is just around the corner and the countdown has begun.

Early Monday evening the light up of these ornaments that makes up the installation from the corner of Pasong Tamo and Ayala Avenue up to the far end where the street ends with EDSA is as bright as the way Filipinos celebrate the Yuletide season will definitely catch your attention.


The installations every year has different perspectives that sets the tone on how the concepts have been presented previously. For this year it’s not exactly a rehash but a more toned down on the installation with the right set-up that captures the Holiday Season in the Philippines. In the past, the church altars were presented more minus the other elements what makes up its first appearance in 2015.

For this year, to capture the symbols that make a meaningful Christmas in the country the lights along Ayala Avenue five of the most iconic churches, this features the totem poles signifying the 12 days of Christmas that are installed between the altars.

Monday night was lit up that was announced in the evening news. Makatizens passed by along the street and took photos of the one in front of the Makati Stock Exchange. It was festive where most of the people waiting at the Bus and Jeepney stops witnessed the light up. There’s something festive about the Holiday Season in the Philippines and the altars and totem poles was lighting up the heart of Makati.













The Makati Street Lights is the just the beginning and a sign that Christmas in the Philippines has begun its countdown and you haven’t seen the one about to be light up at the Ayala Triangle Gardens.
