Sam (Chris Pine), a twenty-something, fast-talking salesman, finds his latest deal collapsing on the same day he learns that his father has suddenly died. Against his wishes, Sam is called home, where he must put his father’s estate in order and reconnect with his estranged family.

In the course of fulfilling his father’s last wishes, Sam uncovers a startling secret that turns his entire world upside-down: He has a 30-year-old sister Frankie (Elizabeth Banks) whom he never knew about. As their relationship develops, Sam is forced to rethink everything he thought he knew about his family—and re-examine his own life choices in the process.

Moviegoers will find themselves connected to the experience of the film in a very real way. Director Alex Kurtzman says, “’People Like Us’ is a relatable family drama. It’s a movie that is about an experience that’s specific and yet very universal at the same time.

“It’s a movie that’s about all of us. It’s about who we are; it’s about the choices that we make,” he continues. “It’s about the mistakes that we make and about the beauty that we find in life, in each other and in our family, no matter how complicated that family is. At the end of the day when all is said and done, nothing is more important than family.”

People Like Us” opens in Philippine theaters on August 15, 2012 exclusively at Ayala Malls Cinemas (Glorietta 4 & Trinoma) DreamWorks Pictures.
