But Hot Wheels, a die-cast toy brand, has discovered to celebrate these seasons through their mini collections that are part of their yearly mainline releases. It’s a fun way to get them if you are not narrowly collecting only licensed car brands. With the Chinese New Year, it has been a tradition with Hot Wheels to present this year’s car that would represent the animal sign. 01.24.2020 – Chinese New Year is happening in Binondo Manila this Saturday and it is going to be a busy weekend with fireworks, dragon dance, and, parades that celebrate the occasion. Usually, the event has a huge turnout in terms of foot traffic to various places where the gathering venue is being held it is also the year of the ‘Metal Rat’ as the last time ‘Year of the Rat’ was celebrated in 2008. To celebrate the occasion the featured character spotlight to associate this year is from Transformers Generations: ‘Thrilling 30’ Rattap, which was part of the ninth wave of action figures released in 2014 for this series. Since it is also the year of the ‘Metal Rat’ that means this Cybertronian is just the right bot for the year.

Year of the Pig | Molang, the Happy Rabbit

02.08.2019 – Chinese New Year was celebrated three days ago and it is the “Year of the Pig” for in 2019. In case you’re in Manila the celebration was felt throughout Binondo during that day as Chinese lanterns and other ornaments adored the aesthetics of the area. This also shows how the Filipino-Chinese community embraced this culture and the rest of the world. There has been much Chinese New Year merchandise that is thematic with the “Year of the Pig” for 2019. But the Lotteria Burger Laboratory in South Korea takes their freebie toy to a whole new level of collectability with Molang, the Happy Rabbit.
