The Collective | Inside Bigboy's Museum

DJ Bigboy, the owner of Secret Fresh and sometime part-time club DJ has been known to collect a lot of things.

He has one of the biggest and rarest collections of designer art toys and has amassed also a collection of sneakers that would cost a fortune that has been featured by other YouTube vloggers several times from different parts of the world.

Recently, with his ever growing collection he started moving some of his collection at The Deck of the Ronact Art Center located at the fourth level. Originally, the museum was supposed to be opened to the public but changed into a private room that is Bigboy’s home away from home…

It was a rare opportunity for me to finally see Bigboy’s Museum as it features some of his rarest Bearbrick collection, which is 1000% bigger than the ones you get in a blindbox. They have their own standing shelf that you’ll find once you enter the glass doors on you right while on the left is a welcoming lounge area with BAPE couches in military camouflage aesthetics that you’ll only find it here that has one of his paintings featuring him.

There’s so much to take in with the visceral appeal and set up of the museum. You will also notice that this room is in climate control to keep every piece of his collection in pristine condition as most of the shoes on display are wrapped in vacuum sealed plastic that you see in shoe shops. There’s a shelf also for the designer art toys that were recently released which includes Quiccs’ rare one-offs and more.

But my favorte part of the museum is the vintage section as you’ll find toys from the 1980s like G.I. Joe, Visionaries, The Real Ghostbusters, Sky Commanders, M.A.S.K, and many more of the contemporaries that came out in that particular era of popular culture. There’s so much stuff in this section that is also graded with a certificate.

The first thing I saw in that part of the display is the Sky Commanders. I had only one that he has in ultra-mint condition that it was like just bought in a store. I had the Bomb Blast with Pete Crane from Sky Commanders, which was a present by my Aunt from the US in Christmas `87 along with some of the G.I. Joes that I got from mum. Pete Crane of course doesn’t look like the same character in the cartoon as I recall he had a mustache and beard who spoke with a Russian accent.

Besides that eye catching collection Bigboy also have a vinyl collection and being a Queen fan I only owned the cassette version of the Greatest Hits Collection Vol.1 as I have a relative who now lives in Australia also owned the same cassette copy. He has two working pinball machines too and Supreme is one of his favorite clothing brands that featured that and you’ll find more Supreme stuff in this particular room including photos of Kate Moss and Mike Tyson endorsing it.

It was already late past 10 PM and the Secret Fresh Team who invited me to this immersive place sat on a round table that featured BAPE chars too. I’ll probably have the chance to see this again but I’m not holding my hopes up as seeing it that night was enough to appreciate how Bigboy’s collection is not just limited to the international brands, but also supports the local artists and the local brands too.

This is a cool place to hang out and thankful for the Secret Fresh team for giving me the opportunity to take a peek at some of the interesting pieces there from sneakers, toys, and even a vinyl collection.
