Everyday City | Crossing Jones Bridge

12.02.2019 – It is the4 second day of December how far have we’ve been gone deep to 2019 and the next thing you’ll notice is that it is 2020 already. With all the things that has been happening I haven’t been keeping up with a lot just a journey everyday got me occupied and it is always a treat to pass by the iconic Jones Bridge.

Past 1PM it was really a slow crawl crossing this bridge and from a far you’ll see it is nearing the final stages of completion as construction workers are hard at work putting together where the four statues will be placed.

Actually, the first two has been welcoming as I strolled my way to the foot of the bridge at the right side of Monday.

There’s been a lot of images has been shared on Social Media about the iconic bridge. News outlets have featured it several times the past weeks and it is impressive during the day it is also stunning at night. The horrendous traffic will never cease now that the Holiday Season is in full swing with people in and out the shopping centers buying presents and other things.

Black Friday was not only for North America it was happening in Manila too this past weekend. There were special sales and so many events you can feel anxiety in finding where to go over the past few days. But today was a different as I was off to cross Jones Bridge and see the wonders of architecture in bringing this back to life for what it used to be back in its original aesthetics.

City of Manila Mayor Isko ‘Moreno” Domagoso has delivered its promise with the help of the Chinatown businessmen that certainly made this possible. Though I’m not entirely a history buff I appreciate art and heritage. You can say it is unprecedented to see this happen. The Manila Mayor also promised to bring back Escolta for what it was during the glory days when it was the original business district in the 1920s up to the 1940s before the World War II broke and destroyed Jones Bridge.

The images alone can’t justify how impressive they brought this bridge back to its relevance. Hopefully this will be maintained properly by the city government as one of the iconic images of what made Manila the capital city of the Philippines.

Crossing the bridge you see workers still fixing some of the parts of this bridge. The night will be brighter and more impressive if you cross this and just appreciate how it took this long to bring it back. The afternoon is just about to heat up as vehicles steadily move while pedestrians snap photos during daylight.

Another busy Monday in the bag and also the second day of December 2019, and it is really that fast approaching to the end of another month and year. These images also show you optimism in the future for Manila and surely 2020 will be something great for this city in the succeeding years come.

For now, if you have the chance to cross this bridge snap some images and share it on social media let the world know that Jones Bridge is back.
