Everyday City | Black Friday in Makati

11.29.2019 – Another week has ended and there will be LOTS of people in shopping malls as Friday is Salary Day. It is also the end of November by tomorrow (Saturday) expect more horrendous traffic in an overly dense populated city. But earlier today it wasn’t that bad and it isn’t either normal though you get the drift about the weekend.

Black Friday is supposed to be an American shopping tradition, but outside of USA some countries followed suit with their own sale. It happened in Australia and some parts of Asia namely the Philippines included.

But what makes it crazier is how much people fork up a lot from their hard earned salary all for half the price or even more.

It is outrageously horrendously glorious Friday as heading to the Central Business District for work errand. Taking the elevated walkway along Dela Rosa Street is an express convenient to avoid the rough terrain below where sidewalk anywhere including Makati City is not as consistently friendly.

Friday of course is another story, as there are so many things happening around the area. There’s a huge crowd down below doing emergency drills and then there are things that catches the eye like the mural that was painted on the walls of the Allied Bank Building just across one of the PLDT’s corporate offices.

The said mural was painted in the walls of a PLDT office that is also occupied by a hundred year old Allied Bank company that owns the said building. It is colourful and unfamiliar artist who did it was impressive. Rarely, there would be a graffiti artist who would paint this wall but this time it is just someone or probably a group. Though credit goes to who worked on it as rarely I see new art on the streets nowadays as compared to the past how Makati government supported this endeavour.

By the time things are done with the errand passed by some familiar places. Planet X Comics is having a sale over the weekend as their Pre-Holiday Special at the same time their 2019 Year End Sale. There’s so many stuff to go through, that if you’re willing to give time. But I’ll be picking my pull list when things are not as hectic on a Saturday. Just noticed so many events happening in this mall like the long lines t the Nike store and the still ongoing Toys R’ Us sale at the events area.

Weekend is finally here, but I have other priorities like more work errands by Saturday. It is also the end of November as 2019 inches its way to turning over a New Year for 2020. It is quite intense once December 2019 steps in and head out to welcome the New Year.

Right now I’m just trying to catch my breath in all of this and hopefully survive the rest of the days ahead.
